I fired it today at H&H today and it a really great gun it kept a really tight group and  I really like the trigger pull.  Also fired a Sig P229 .40 which i didnt like at all.  And i had to finish up with the AR15 for nostalgic reasons,  Semper Fi.

by coincidence I shot my xd today, it is a pretty decent shooter

I've shot a couple of the m 40 models, they're decent shooters too, as I recall the triggers didn't feel all that great, but not bad either.

My roommate has one and loves it.  He's fired factory rounds and a bunch of his own reloads and i haven't heard him talk about any problems yet.

A little more info. Yes, I have a Springfield XDm in .45 ACP. Most know that I'm a 1911 and Hi-Power kinda guy. Dont really care all that much for all the "plastic fantastic" floating around. Traditionalist, you know? I like to change my own oil, do my own home repairs, etc.

After an unfortunate incident one evening with a rabid monster from hell (armadillo), I figured it was time to get a light slung under a pistol. So I ordered a Streamlight TLR-1s. It comes in and of course I have no pistol with a rail to mount it too. I had owned an XD in .45 a while ago, I let a friend talk me out of it. I remember that the grip angle is the same on them as it is on the 1911. I haven't yet decided to commit the blasphemy of getting a 1911 with a rail, so it was a no brainer

The XDm in .45 is a fine shooting gun. In a comparison that all here may understand, I'd say that the plastic handguns may get the job done just like a $40 hooker will. Where the 1911 is more like the $500 professional "escort"

ETA- I will likely end up with a 1911 with a rail. Oh the horror! Kimber warrior?

You're all wrong. If you're doing it right, you offer to take the hookers grocery shopping with your Oklahoma Access card in exchange for "favors". Happens several times a day in our fine state.

Most of the foks I've come into contact with just call it "the brown card"...and I've heard a couple of hood rats refer to it as "we're goin' shoppin' wit DooDoo Brown".

Bah, this working for a living is something else ain't it?
