You fluent in espanol or somalian?
http://www.sterlingcolo.com/ 1/2 way between the NE border and ft fun. Smaller town close to ft morgan (yipee) larger cattle area. A lot of folks commute to greeley, Denver area for work. If you get hooked up with the right folks varmint hunting might be in your future. CO is very NFA friendly. Upon arrival it apply for your CCW permit. Better if you have a valid TX one. This way with wait times. By the time approval happens you're gtg. |

No way there can be as many illegals there as there are here. I will be interfacing with land owners on a regular basis. I assume it will not be much different than it is here minus the humidity there and abundance of fatties in Texas. I spend most my time running, cycling, kayaking, and shooting so I am hoping for some like minded people. |

The somali's are "legal" work visa folks who have literally taken over JBswift in greality. You'd be surprised how many documented & undocumented workers here in Cholo-rado. |

Any particular area I should avoid or try to live in? We would prefer to live out of town on an acre or two so the dogs have a place to run. Does anyone know if they have any organized shooting events in sterling? Your best bet is to go on line and do some research. It's rural/ farming out side of town with lots of oil & gas. FWIW: EVERYONE who moves to CO either want's ACREAGE or MOUNTAIN LIVING. However 98% of those people do not have thefunds or realize what's involved for, living, commuting, employment, shopping school wise (if you have kids) etc. One good snow storm and you're in for a day or 2 easily. |

I grew up in central montana and you are correct in that a lot of people who move into snow country don't make it through more than one or two winters. No matter where you are the closer you are to the mountains, beach, public land or the bigger the lot the higher the cost. I try to tell people here that its dirt cheap it is cheap because there are few decent jobs and no other good reason to live here. I am moving for the employment opportunity first and location second or I would be moving to Montana or Colorado Springs, but I expect Sterling will be closer to living at home than my current location is so we are prepared to lose the disposable income. I only ask because on line searches don't tell you which realtor is reliable, which neighborhood sucks, and what part of town to avoid. |

In my experience, it's a VERY close knit community that hates outsiders. That might be a problem for my wife but we will have to work around it for the next few years, such is life dealing with townies. On the other hand having lived in a ski resort town, and Montana, I can understand the dislike for outsiders. I'm surprised Colorado in general isnt more spiteful of outsiders considering the huge number of tourists. |

I learned to hate people friday through sunday when I lived in Mammoth, a ski resort, but I am older now and it could be a different experience. |
