That's what happens when you mess around with wildlife, There is a difference to being a wildlife presenter and a wildlife annoyer!
Sad though!

RIP. ya mad aussie hatter.

Although it was only a question of when, rather than if he'd get it from one of mother nature's beast's, he provided me with many a breath taking moment watching his show. I hate spider's & snake's with a passion especially the one's that can cause you a painfull death.

They even aired his show here in Germany dubbed over in German of course, but that didnt spoil the content.

My thought's go out to his family and friend's.

Tony

He was a good guy. A rolemodel for kids and adults. I bet he never saw that one coming

"She's a grumpy girl!"...... I remember that line from watching him swinging a Taipan around by its tail......

Or jumping from the moving boat onto a croc to "rescue" it from "a painful death" from the fishing line round its nose....

Indeed a hatter, but Ausi entertainment at it best (apart from the Paul Hogan Show).....

I'm wondering how it all happened, Nigel Marvin seemed quite surprised as Stingrays are not really known for their aggression.
Feel sorry for his missus big time.

A stingrays barb through his heart Probably a 1 in a million chance of that happening.  They were filming it at the time, so i wonder if it will find it's way onto the net.

He made me laugh

Steve Irwin was asked about his favourite kids TV program. He said Thunderbirds was his favourite but there'll always be a place in his heart for Stingray

No.. seriously, his madcap animal antics will be missed.

"Never underestimate the penetrating ability of a stingray’s barb, even on the smallest of stingrays. The stingray’s barb is designed to penetrate virtually all sorts of dense materials, including wood and leather. And as unbelievable as it may seem, it’s been documented that large stingrays are able to drive a barb through a boat’s wooden planks or completely through a persons arm or leg."

"Aside from the pain and serious laceration caused by the razor-sharp barb, which can sever arteries and possibly an Achilles tendon, a poison is released that can produce a drastic decrease in blood pressure, increased pulse, dizziness and possible shock."

The venom from the barbed tail affects the cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels), causing both peripheral vasoconstriction (blanched white extremities) or dilatation (beefy red extremities).
The venom may also cause arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats) or even a systole reaction (the heart may stop beating altogether).

He was proper f***ed...............
