Going on Day 6 being stranded in London on the way to Afghanistan. They have no idea when this will lift, might do my whole tour here.

are you stuck in the airport or a hotel, or can you get out and explore?
if so, since you ride, i'd go here- www.ace-cafe-london.com and perhaps the Victoria & Albert museum or... heck, there's a bunch of stuff to see in London while you're stuck there... as long as you're allowed to roam. |

Oh, hurt me some more... stranded in London.
Really, not a bad place to be stuck. The museums are free, the parks are nice, and the tube is cheap transportation. If you have the time, go to the Guards Museum. It is located on Birdcage Walk, opposite the Victoria Memorial & St James Park. Every morning @ 10:50am the guards line up in preparation for the guard change. The museum is part of the Wellington Barracks where the guard lives. You can kill most of a day at the British Museum. Or the national Portrait Gallery. Crawl into Gordon's wine bar @ 47 Villiers Street - the place has been there for centuries. Have lunch & a glass of port. Lots to do... Lem |
| Look for the American Cemetary. It's very awesome to see how the older British honored our dead during WW1 and WW2. Only americans are allowed back in there to look for their family. It's in one of the Abby's and I don't remember which one. I miss driving my Mini's. |
Lots to do. The beer comes in pints and its warm and some are the women are pretty hot but that is relative to how many beers you put down.
Go walk around Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. The Shakespeare theater should be open now at the original spot where it used to be- it was under construction last time I was there. The Tower of London, check out the Beefeaters and the first female one there. Check out Sherlock Holmes crib-221b Baker Street. Definitely go to Abbey Road and check out the Beatles recording studio. Dont try to take that 1960s pic of them crossing the crosswalk. Its a damned busy street there now- I almost got ran over and got the British equivalent of the Bird. Go to 10 Downing Street as thats the Prime Ministers crib...the dude that sent the Brits to war with us in the sand box. Across the street from that place is Scotland Yard- their equivalent of our FBI. If you are at Paddington Station where the trains are...take a picture of Platform 4. Thats where all the rejects from SAS training in Hereford arrive at when they dont pass training. Watch out for them hookers around there too...hehe. Princess Diana used to cruise around there helping out those women. Dont venture too far from there...you will be in Arab country. Might as well enjoy London if you are stuck there. I ran out of time when I was there but I wanted to find out where MI6 was located and take a pic. Just for the Bond aficionado in me. The food sucks ass (bland)...but the afternoon tea times are always great. Have fun dude. |

You could be in some cave on some Afghan mtn side eating MREs or sipping tea around London and eating crab cakes. lol |
