I've lived in PSL and worked in Stuart for about 8 years now. It's a decent little community, though it's expanded by leaps and bounds since I arrived. It's become very very crowded in the past, about 2-3 years, to the point that it takes me 10 minutes longer to drive to my West Palm job(40 miles) than to downtown Stuart(10 miles). We've got some decent schools, a couple Catholic, non-denom private, and a bunch of public, some better than others. The community itself is not bad, pretty much like other towns I've lived in, though much more mobile. There really aren't any "town centers" except for downtown Stuart and downtown Jensen Beach. The former has a nice mix of "trendy" local shops and restaurants, while the later is more retiree and artist. There's a decent amount of land in Martin County, and you've got access to Jonathan Dickenson state Park. they've got kayaking and canoe rentals so you can head up/down the river there. Fishing is superb, we're the sailfish capital of the world, and if you're a boater, this is a the place. Range-wise, you're a little more limited. There's one range I know of in St. Lucie/Martin, and it runs about $15 for 2 hours, it's pretty crappy to be honest. About an hour north in Indian River, there's an outdoor range which is excellent. The range officers are good, prices are reasonable($6 for all day on all ranged pistol/rifle/bow), and it's not too far away. There are two decent gun shops, one in Martin, the other in PSL. Grey Goose specializes in high end Beretta, but it also has a good collection of pistols/rifles. The owner is a decent gunsmith. He's located in PSL. Self Defense is in Martin, and they own the range as well. They're much larger and have some douches that work for them, though the owners are nice. Prices are reasonable, but I wouldn't take them any smith work, as I've talked to their "smiths" and I think I knew more then them.

All in all, it's a decent place. Property taxes are rising, and it's hard to get home insurance anymore, but it's ok on the whole, better than most places.

Need any more info, just IM. What company if you don't mind me asking?

A GM dealer needs a experienced parts counterman and that's all Ive done since high school and its second nature to me now. The parts manager saw my resume that I faxed them and was interested.

Im just tired of the same ol stuff up here in Arl,Va and its time for a change.

I live 20 miles south of stuart but i too am looking at moving to the area.  The best thing i can say about it is that it is laid back.  Its still got that small town feel but its very with it as far as amenities (restaurants, beaches, malls, stores).  Its also not to far from west palm and a little bit of night life.

Not too familiar with the GM dealerships down here, but good luck with the job. Like Stump said, it's pretty laid back here, and definately close to WPB should you need a touch of city life. And it's about 2 hours from Orlando as well.

One other thing, there are a bevy of gunshows around here. Good ones include WPB and Ft. Lauderdale. The show in PSL has steadily declined over the years, but it's still fairly large. The best one I've been to in the state is held up in Lakeland, which is about 2-3 hours away, but worth the drive.

Hope this helps
