Tested for the job and I'm waiting for the results (I'm pretty confident that I scored really well). Does anyone have ANY info on the job? There is absolutely zero information about Suffolk County Corrections/Sheriffs Dept online. Hiring process, how hard to get in, how long is the hiring process, academy location, academy life, academy length, training, firearms training, issued weapon, the job itself, shifts, hours, days off, rookie life, etc. I would also assume that having a "hook" would help? There is plenty of info about N.Y. State and City DOC but, I can't find any info or advice for Suffolk other than, "start running". I'm looking for a career change and would love to get involved in Law Enforcement. Unfortunately, I live in NY and I just turned 39...too "old" for the good stuff. Passed the test for U.S. CBPO and wouldn't ya know it, the President screwed me by granting them LEO status. If I don't EOD by July, I won't be able to get in....too "old". Considered Border Patrol (can get in till 40) but, I can't swing the move to the southwest because my wife only has 9 years till full pension. Thanks in advance for any help. |
