Can I bow hunt during the "Suffolk Special Firearms Season"?
And if so, are there any restrictions I should know of?
I tried searching the DEC website and all I got was a headache.

My guess is that archery season ended on LI on 31 December, and that the special shotgun season
in Suffolk starts the first weekday of January and ends the last weekday of January.

their website is bad news but with layoffs it won't get any better.

Suffolk county special firearms season is, just that - a "firearms season" special permit And it is by lottery  in Rocky Pont . You cant just hop in any wooded area with your shot gun
Bow ended Dec 31
Long Island Opportunities
Deer hunting from October-December is archery only. All hunting on state land requires a DEC permit. During the January firearms season, shotgun and muzzleloader are the only legal implements, and a special permit is required. For exact dates and permit information, send a self-addressed envelope to Deer Info, NYS DEC, SUNY Bldg. 40, Stony Brook, NY 11790-2356 or visit our Long Island Hunting Page.
