I did mine through American Outdoor in Farmingdale.  $35 for each one, but a pleasure to deal with.

Where are you located?

(It doesn't make sense to spend $15 in gas to save $10 on a transfer.)

i wouldn't give American Outdoor a dime. They won't talk to you if you don't go in there waving a wad of cash.

If you're in Bayshore it's probably worth driving to South Shore Sportsman considering you're not that far, assuming it's something they'll receive.
As far as non store front guys, I can't help you over that way.

Funny…  I asked where you are because we have people here who automatically tell you to go to SSS.  You could be in Orient Point, they'd tell you to go there.
So I asked…. and ended up suggesting you go there anyway.

I'm not far from you, but use South Shore Sportsman in Merrick. IMO, they're worth the drive.

Cas for the early 60's exits on the LIE where do you recommend for transfers?

I use Dean Speir in Westhampton, but that's too far out from you.

I just emails south shore sportsman in merrick since I will be doing a handgun transfer as well myself.  He said they do $25 handgun transfers.  Seems worth the drive to me depending on how far out in suffolk you are of course

Most of the time I use Dean as well, he's not the cheapest and he's sure not the closest.  But there are trade offs that make it worth while for me.
One being that I've used him so many times over the last bunch of year that I just email where I need him to send his FFL and when it comes in he calls me. Then after I pick whatever up I can stop at the range on the way home and shoot it.

Before that I was using Carl in Setauket.  Again not the cheapest, but 5 minutes from work.

If I can get it to work it out close enough to when I'll be at a match in Freeport I'll use South Shore Sportsman.

Carl in Setauket is 5 minutes from  my home. I've used SSS and Hunter sports as well.

Wow, I had the exact opposite experience with them.  Twice.

Carl is $50/tranfer last I knew.

Hunter is $30, not sure about SSS.

He's up to $50 now?

Well then forget that.
