| Inuhbad mentioned that Oak Grove Arms had a decent selection of surplus stuff in the gun shop thread... does anyone know of any other stores within an hour or so of the cities that carry a decent number of surplus rifles? I'm thinking about trying to get a Mauser and/or a Mosin... |
The Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park wanted $159!!!! For the Mosin that they had. They only had one and it wasn't in that great of shape. Last time INuh and I where at Bill's Robinsdale(Last weekend), They had a Enfield for $129. INuh guessed it was because someone had started to refinish it and it had some collectability marks removed. Other than that he said it would make a great shooter because everything else was in great shape.

if you are talking about GERMAN mausers... inuh is correct. even the Russian Capture ones are getting harder to find ( in good shape ) do your research before you buy a german mauser, and you can use that info to find yourself one thats more rare or unique. for example, my mauser is a German BSW38 that was a russian capture. they had to "code" them to hide where they were being manufactured at, they werent allowed to make military arms at the time. so mine is a slightly rare code, because BSW only made them from 37-39... thats what makes mine just a little bit more special. if you buy a russian captured mauser, with the typical shellac, try to find one that still has the german stamps. remove that ugly shellac! i can tell you how. stay away from "mitchells mausers" if you want help on the subject, let me know i can provide a ton of info for you but dont have the time right now. |

Order a mosin from J&G, and have your favorite local FFL do the transfer for you http://www.jgsales.com/index.php/c/c-r-guns/cPath/290?osCsid=6b63126859def8a85aaeba665aa77978 Otherwise try the Gunstop. I just picked up an unissued SKS for $269. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it is almost perfect. |
i almost laughed when i read that, but then i realized you might be serious. $269 for a RELIABLE WORKING SEMI AUTO rifle was more than you wanted to spend? dude, the days of the issued and beat up $79.00 sks are over. get use to it. $269 isnt shit. i know im probably sounding a bit harsh, but face it, i can blast away more in ammo in a day than you spent on a rifle that will last you a lifetime. |
Click here 91/30's are here |
loved by sks...wish I would have kept at least one of them....sold em one at a time when I needed money....thought I could always grab another for $100 or so......wrong buy what you want becasue you want it and NEVER sell them......

1940-1960? That's weird, since Soviet Russia only made M44s from late 1943-1948... Try Dunham's Sports for Mosins and Mausers. They often have 91/30s on sale for $69-89. Mausers are a little tougher to come by than they were a few years ago but you can still get a Yugo 24/47 pretty reasonably in refurbed-to-new condition. |
| I bought a M38 and a M44 Nagant at the Owatonna Fleet Farm, both for $120. The M38 was on sale, reg $159. At least at Fleet Farm you can inspect and choose which rifle you want. Both of mine were clean (M44 had minimal cosmolin on the bolt) and ready to shoot. It would be helpful to do some research so you know what to look for. If you do go with a Nagant be careful of the ammo that you buy. Don't buy the super cheep corrosive ammo unless you don't mind special cleaning methods. Buy the Non-corrosive ammo. I have put 80 rounds through the M38. It kicks like a mule but I love it and am very happy with it. |
