I inherited a surround sound system with components and I can not figure out how to make it work with my television.
I have a manual, components and pile of spaghetti (wires) -- every time I think I have it correct, I fail. I am about to buy a new system and deep six this one.

I am looking to hire someone to do this for me ASAP

What kind of TV, what inputs and outputs does it have?  What components are you trying to use?  What part isn't dong what you expect?  I'm very good with this stuff but need an idea of what you're working with and what the actual problem is.

Post up the model # of the the surround sound unit and whatever it's hooking up to.

Are you positive the thing works to begin with?

Yes I am positive it all works. The system was working prior to being given to me. I tried to hook up but alas no sound.

I am looking to hire someone ASAP to take care of this, I can call a local company but I wanted to put this out there to anyone on here to do the work. I often read about members out of work. I am sure it is something simple but I do not have time to troubleshoot. So if someone needs the money and is capable of completing this, let me know.

It's still a good idea to post model # info
You need to make sure the installer is familiar with your brand of equipment

It's likely simply the inputs or outputs are mixed up or not programmed correctly. It could also simply have the speaker a/b turned incorrectly.

I setup my home theater recently and had some problems with my cable box that had video but no sound.  I turns out the cable box didn't like sending audio over HDMI so I had to use a digital optical sound connection to get it working.

If you haven't got it figured out yet, I have some time tomorrow as I am working form home.  I can help you over the phone if needed, or give you some insight through IM or email.  Just let me know.

Thanks,

Dan
