The next installment of our little production is scheduled for Feb. 21.  The match will be held at the Carolina Star (www.carolinastar.com).  Registration for the match will begin at 0800hrs, safety briefing at 0830hrs, and shooting to begin immediately thereafter.  The fee for the match will be $20.  The match will be comprised of four COF's, with a minimum round count of 75; bring AT LEAST 100 rounds.  The match will be shot as "open" classification, with targets out to 100yards.  There will be movement, IPSC style speed runs, and lots of reactive targets(this means ABSOLUTELY no steel core or AP ammunition).

As usual, there will be guns and gear available for those that need them.  You will need to provide your own ammunition: .223 cal. new US manufacture commercial ammunition.

Please contact me by e-mail ([email protected]) if you plan to attend, so we can have some idea of how many people to expect.

Come and Play.

YES, registration STARTS at 8:00 AM.

When your running something like this, you want to start as early as possible.  You never know how many people to expect, and you want everyone to have a good time and not feel rushed.  We're shooting four COF's, with a fairly high round count.  I don't want to run late and have problems getting people through.  At the last match, we started shooting around 0900, took a break for lunch, and still finished up around 0130.

I know that it's an early start, but if you talk to any of the guys that made the last match, they'll tell you it was worth getting out of bed.

Here's a quick rundown on the COF's:

Accuracy Counts - This COF will involve bowling pins at 50 yards, steel plates at 75 yards and an IDPA target at 100 yards; drop the reactive targets, put two rounds COM on the IDPA target, and your done. You will begin the COF from a standing, unsupported position, but you can shoot from any position you like; all it costs you is time.

Speed Run - Everybody loved the bowling pins, so we're doing it again.  A dozen or so bowling pins arranged randomly at 20-30 yards.  Shoot till they're all down, or you're out of ammo.

The Barricade - Engage the two close targets from left side barricade with two rounds to the body and one round to the head.  Perform a mandatory magazine change and engage target array from right side barricade with two rounds COM, kneeling at stepped barricade (targets at 15-20 yards).  Engage steel plates from roll-over prone, shooting around the end of the stepped barricade (plates at 50 yards).

The fourth COF is a "flanking exercise".  Movement will be from 6 o'clock to three o'clock. From the first barricade, engage first target array.  Move out and forward to second barricade, engaging intermediate targets as necessary.  From the second barricade, engage second target array at original line of sight.  Move out and forward to third barricade, engaging intermediate targets as necessary.  From the third barricade, engage third target array at original line of sight.  All IDPA targets will require two rounds COM.  The second target array will be steel plates, scored up or down.

We aim to keep it interesting.

What a great day!

The weather cooperated, new faces, LOTS of rounds down range.  I can't think of a better way to spend the day.

We had about the same number of shooters that we had at our last match, but about a third of them were FAL-BORG shooting the BIG guns.    I'd like to personally thank EMDII (E-V-I-L Moderator at the FALFILES) for all the support.  We had shooters from Richmond Virginia, Charleston SC, and Savannah Ga, come out to play; all said that it was worth the trip.

In search of a way to beat SCOOP , I'm willing to try just about anything.  We will not be having a match in March, due to my scheduled LASIK eye surgery.  The matches will resume in April (usually the third Saturday).  Look for some 3-gun adventures, as well as a two-man tactical match later on this year.

The final scores have been posted at: www.csrapistol.com

You can veiw some of the match pictures at: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99393

Thanks to all those that attended - See you at the next match.
