Why do I have to pay taxes on used firearms? Classic double taxation and I don't understand it. What you say?

if you are buying from a store. sales tax is mandated..no matter what your buying
if the sale is rung in thier system, they have to collect the tax.

I gladly accept your double tax platform as fact, but compared to the 40 or so states that charge
sales tax and income tax, roads and bridges tax, and a variaty of other taxes I will take Texas levals of taxation V cali, NY, NJ, MI, etc..

Ask to fill out a farm use exemption.  See what they say.

no different than paying sales tax on a used vehicle.  Tax was paid when the vehicle was new, now our great representatives have declared that all used vehicles are worth the "blue book" value for tax purposes even if you didn't pay that much.

Hey, if you buy it face to face from an individual, you don't have to pay sales tax on it.

Choose your vendors wisely.

Sorry to hijack the thread.  The above is correct when purchasing firearms.  The rest applies to used vehicles. When you go to tag the vehicle the county clerk looks up the blue book value and that is what you pay sales tax on to the state(county).
