This evening I am in a decent motel in Snyder but on Monday I'll be moving down to Big Spring to stay for a month or so.  Drove down there yesterday to arrange lodging and check the place out but would appreciate any inside info on the place.  I'll be driving 40+ miles up to Gail every day for the survey and there is nothing there in Borden County (check out Borden County on Wikipedia to learn about the middle of nowhere).  Big Spring seems to have more than Snyder in the way of services and such but I would like to hear from locals or regular visitors about what the town is like and what I should know about it.  Thanks in advance for what you can offer in the way of info and insight.

Big Spring ––- take ear plugs

Company I used to work for had a plant right behind the Alon plant that had the explosion.  I used to spend a week there every now and then.  I never did find a place to stay that I liked.

Big Spring is a decent enough place.  They have a Wal Mart and most of the conveniences of larger cities.  They also have one of the few all-digitial theaters in that area of the state.

Although, you could stay in Lubbock.  Your drive would be approx 70 miles each way but Lubbock is much more exciting than Big Spring.
Make friends with the locals.  Who knows?  Maybe you can meet a landowner who needs someone to help hunt his property.

Lots of beggars and panhandler types the couple times I've been there.
