Do we have any Pest/Termite guys on the West side (Marietta, Kennesaw, Dallas area)? I found termites in one wall of the house. I'm going to need treatment and annual service.

Don't know about pest control companies, but if you get the house treated have them use Termidor.

I just did ours myself this year after noticing some termites in proximity to the house (temp wooden plant stake meant to be in ground no longer than 3 weeks).  Later I noticed they came up near the sink drain and had gotten in a board, but by then I had already killed the colony, or they moved on.  No sign of them in house or yard since then.

Was a pain in the #$#, but saved some money and it was done right, while my parents paid to have theirs treated and they used far less chemical than they should of based on the linear footage and house type.

Also, it's cheaper to just have the house treated every 5-7 years than maintain an annual contract, unless treating the house every X amount of years is part of the contract.

I am.

Been in the business around 12 years. I can have an inspector come see you as early as Monday. We are a top 100 Nationally ranked Pest Control company in the business over 35 years. Still family owned and an extremely good company with one of the best warranties in Atlanta.

Just some quick advice. Termidor is a great product, but you will pay a premium for it. Premise has been around longer and treated alot more homes. They are both non-repellents.You also have an option of a baiting system but I wouldn't do just a bait system without at least a partial liquid treatment. If you are opening wall voids you can also do some borate wood treatments and foaming of wall voids could be an option also.

I would not recomend you do termite work as do-it-yourself. The equipment and knowledge is simply not within reach of an average homeower, and with treatments averaging $400-900 depending on what service you pick it is alot cheaper then doing it yourself and you will also get a warranty with whatever company you choose.

Even if you choose another company I would be happy to do a free inspection and give you some pointers on what to look for in a quality company to do business with.

This place is local

Its a fair amount of work to trench it right. I would just try to get a good price  from a local place as that sets you up with an annual insurance bond for any future damage.

That is where I have purchased some items from.  I got my trebor plugs from them.

E-bay will have the best prices for Termidor though.  Just watch out like always on e-bay and make sure about the feedback of the seller, date of product, factory sealed, ect....

Trenching is a pain, but I haven't seen many termite companies properly trench.  When I did it myself, I knew it was done right.  I did a lot of reading and research before I even started, but I'm the type that prefers to do it myself and do it properly.  Took me a while to trench, drill holes, ect...., but I already have the tools, such as a huge Bosch rotary drill, that made drilling holes in concrete like cutting butter.

Fipronil is the active ingredient in Termidor, same as in Frontline for dogs, used on cattle, ect....

Also, from my research it seems that Termidor is more successful on killing the entire colony, or basically more effective at transferring fipronil between termites.  Basically according to some of the articles I read, Premise makes the termites that come into contact act sick or drunken if you will, and other termites then avoid them since termites avoid other termites that are sick, as do other insect colonies (for protecting health of entire colony).  In other words Premise, while it works well as a non-repellant, is not quite as effective in transferring the active ingredient by termite to termite contact.

Everyone has their opinion, but this is what I read about the research / studies that have been conducted on various termite products.

Good to know we have a termite person on board, i will gladly steer my folks your way, when they need their house treated again.

Quote from a few summers ago.  "Dad, there were these cool ants in the garage, and I poked them and they flew away.!"

I used Cooks Pest Control, and they did a good job, with one of those baiting systems they come out and check once in a while.  The only damage me, the guys from the pest place, and another guy I know that does termite repair work could find was a soft spot on one of the garage door side beam. I cut it out after a year, and replaced it, no further issues seen so far.

As there is a local termite guy here in the HTF, I'd call him first.
