| it's unconstitutional under the tx constitution. this is ILLEGAL to the highest degree. not only is this fucking with the bill of rights nationally, it's messing with tx legislation too....... I will not submit to this if it passes. if i go to jail so be it. I refuse to be tyrannized. |
| Yea you sound like a real winner guy...now back to reality...It wouldn't surprize me if the ban passes thanks to all of the jackasses that keep using AW's to attack LEO's and others. I work in Smith Co. where the courthouse shooting happened. I have heard several of my co-workers say things like "that was the stupidest thing they could have done letting the AWB expire." Even though our own Sheriff stated on local news that the AWB really served no purpose and its expire should no proove to effect law enforcement. All the idiots out there need quit using AK's and other AW's, they are really screwing it up for the rest of us. Also comments from people like "Voldermortist" don't help the cause, makes you and the rest of us look like a bunch of anti-government yahoo's. Yea that'll make the legislature want to trust or listen to us!!! If you go F&@KING nuts, buy a damn slingshot and a bag of marbles and assault someone with them! |
|
They need to leave us Texans alone. If they have an AW's issue with the criminals, then the law should tighten the rope on them. "Fight fire with fire" and load the the police up with the same weapons. It's already happening with some local law enforcement in the DFW area. It pisses me off eveytime I see some criminal act on TV and there are AR's or AK's involved. My first thought is that's the one that will change thing for us, making the innocent suffer with the bad. IMHO, the judicial system need a major overhaul when it comes to punishing some of these idiots. You need to put the fear in some of these a#@holes and let the punishment better fit the crime. Maybe then some of them will think twice before they act. |
| The Texas State Rifle Association does a good job of fighting bills like this. They also do a good job sending out alerts to keep the members informed about these things. They are sort of like the NRA of Texas. I highly recommend joining if you are not a member. It's a good organization for the gun owners of Texas. |
of course, I'm a nutcase because I'm not willing to bend over and grab my ankles. that's real nice. Stupid hypocrit. |
Not that this will ever pass, but...
Notice it says "the person lawfully possessed the weapon" -- does that mean that "grandfathered" weapons would not be transferrable? Write your state senators and reps, just in case... |
+500 Texas gun owners should be members. TSRA fights hard. |
Find out who your state reps and state senators are and call their offices telling them to oppose this bill. Be sure and give the bill name SB1386. A phone call to the governor's office wouldn't hurt either. |
|
I gave my Senator(Wentworth) an email and asked him to oppose the bill. I don't know if it will help but it can't hurt to try. With t both houses of the texas legislature being republican, it should help to table the bill. As I explained to the senator, my ar15's, cetme's and ak's are used in testing of materials to save soldiers and leo lives in the future if everything works out. Anti-gun laws only cost lives and don't save any(i'll proubly get flamed for this beleif but I beleive it to be true having had a loved one killed because of gunlaws where she lived.) |
AMEN! if the national NRA was half as effective as the TSRA was all gunowners in America would be better off. If you dont belong to TSRA you should. |
What's silly in the first place is that there are people who think that the expiration of the AWB is even remotely related to these shoot-em-up events. They don't even realize that the "ban" didn't actually ban rifles. It simply banned simple bolt-on features which had little to do with the lethality of the rifle. Therefore, there can be no real hard-core correlation between the AWB and any perceived or actual decline in mass shootings. I'm not familiar with what type of AK variant was used by the nut-job in Tyler and when he acquired it, but I purchased at least five AK variants during the ban period that would've been just as effective as the one he used. So what if they didn't have flash suppressors, folding stocks, or bayonet lugs. They had the potential to be just as effective and deadly as any post-AWB AK. When I hear people spouting erroneous logic in support of an AWB, I generally try my best to educate them on the actual workings and flawed theories of such bans. A large percentage of the time, these people come away better educated and with a different way of thinking. |
+2 Mike |
One thing I have learned in dealing with Senators/Reps. An email is good for a quick "heads up" but they really notice mailed letters. Taking the time to write/type up a well contructed letter has resulted in my Rep calling me to discuss a matter that I brought to her attention. Not once has an email resulted in further meaningful contact. |
That has been my experience also. A well written letter seems to be taken more seriously. |

Ellis from Houston is made of the same fabric as his federal counterpart Shiela Jackson Lee....both are serious liberals with an agenda. All Texas gun owners and sportsmen should spend the few $$$ and join the TSRA. It is a great organization and has major influence in the legislature. They get things done and are very effective. Your money is well spent. be safe.... |
| Historically gun control & gay rights are 2 certain death issues for elected reps in Texas. Id keep an eye on it but I wouldnt sweat it too hard. If youre not in the NRA & TSRA Id like to ask why not? The TSRA works hard in Texas for all of us. The TSRA never backs down or compromises on an issue. |
I beg to differ with you. Though they are both minority bleeding heart liberal Democrats, Jackson is a lawyer originally FROM NEW YORK CITY. She is an opportunist who saw how she could keep smiling in the camera on the Houston City Council one day, to Congresswoman at $144,000 annual salary the next day. The only Woman that irritates me more is Hillary Clinton!!!!!!!! |
Texas State Rifle Association Upper left hand corner. |
I live in Canton, and heard that it was a MAK 90. Not even covered by the AWB |

Just Joined TSRA
