Anyone ever got a Class A license without the commercial endorsement. The DL handbook makes it seem possible, but DPS looks at you like idiots.
Just looking to drive my semi and trailer to haul fun toys and make zero dollars doing it. |

Well I would imagine that on the DL Application you would check "Driver License" and circle 'A'.
Edit: So you have a large 18-wheeler type tractor and trailer? You would need a CDL regardless to operate that vehicle on a public highway. |

IM just curious because the DPS DL handbook has a section of classified licenses and requirements, then has another section for commercial licenses and the requirements for those. Makes it seem like I could just get an A without the commercial endorsement. What is your vehicle? |

I know im ok driving it registered as an fmv regardless of weight or size. I guess my real concerns are when I put a load on it. I guess I'm not being clear enough. Regardless of registration status, cargo, attached trailers, etc. you have to have a Class A Commercial Driver License to operate that motor vehicle on a public highway. If you are going to be driving that vehicle regularly and not for exhibits, public interest, parades, etc. you will need to re-register the vehicle because Former Military Vehicle registration does not allow for operation of the registered vehicle for regular transport. |
