I took my CHL class with my wife about a year and a month ago.  I never mailed off my packet to the DPS.  Is it still alright to send it off or has it expired?  Anybody know the time limit?

Oh well, no biggie.  My LEO status lets me carry anyways.  Just took the class to accompany the wife.

Good to hear. I tried to convince some LEO buddies of mine to do so as well in case something bad happened(God forbid) that left them no longer a peace officer. At least one thought it was a good idea :)

Little brother is a State Trooper.    Trooper Association said they would provide legal help , if needed, if he was involved in a shooting.     If he has a CHL, the legal help is NOT provided.

Not sure the mentality on this.

I know its not the way it would really work, but in theory... they shouldn't even know he has one ;)

You know that when the DPS runs your drivers license, if you have a warrent, or a CHL, the info screen turns red?

The Trooper Association in and of itself is not a law enforcement agency, and is not privy to that info. Disclosing it to them would be an offense.

edit: but this is a whole different topic

Law enforcement officer/agency divulging private information on an individual to a third party organization. If I'm wrong please correct me though.

Nope, you are right.  I was not sure if you meant the DPS disclosing to TSTA or the individual disclosing.  ;)
