From the COC here it only talks about items for sale, not for FREE? Is a free item really considered a garage sale? Am I wrong? -------------------------------------IN PETA's OWN WORDS BELOW-------------------- Here are some helpful hints when trying to decide what you can post in the HTFs concerning stuff you have for sale. You can't post WTS/WTB/WTT adds in the HTF. You can't post links to your adds in the EE. You can't use troll accounts or have your buddy post links to your add in the EE. You can't list the items you have listed in the EE here, even if there is no price listed. You can't start threads saying you have stuff for sale in the EE. Basically, the HTFs aren't local garage sales for the internet. I would really appreicate it if we could stick to these rules and guidelines. Thanks, Petagunner |

Good point coctailer. However, the guy didn't start a pay it forward thread instead he just starts posting individual threads for each lilttle thing; I mean really three threads on the first page . I don't know what the mods have to say but I know that site-staff has approved pay-it-forward threads specifically and not freebie threads.

Oh, and to answer the question from the other thread, I gave away an AR-15 cleaning rod guide. It fits into the upper to contain cleaning fluids. Firearm paint and firearm cleaning brushes. Yeah, too many threads. I just kept digging through boxes and posting threads when I found stuff. My fault for not planning ahead. Also my fault for not ever reading the rules. I just never figured that giving stuff away would run afoul. [shug] Live and learn. |
I see what you mean. I thought that they were OK. I would like to know for sure if it's cool to post a freebie thread. 3-threads, I can understand is a bit much. Perhaps the amount of threads prompted the locks? There is this also: Rules: Situations which have not been covered in this code of conduct may arise and will be handled by moderators and staff who have been carefully chosen to treat such issues with fairness. Yea coctailer I think it was probably the number of threads that got the locks. I just texted the locker and he said the same...waste of bandwidth too. BA I think a good rule of thumb for the HTF is just not to post any ads here; its the rule I follow. Just keeps your pee pee from getting smacked. BTW, I don't think all interactions with the mods are bad........sometimes they are just downright sandpaper rough.

So I see the locked thread about some free brushes and the systems message about reading the forum rules. This isnt a WTS,WTB etc...and where is this 'maximum threads allowed per day' thing listed in the rules? WTF?! and before someone tries to lay a hand on my pee pee, No. 8 states, "this only applies to topics which waste resources for no other reason except personal enjoyment or humor". Shades of ghey, and getting gheyer all the time. |
| Well dude I don't know what to tell you. This is their forum (staff and mods) and they make the rules. We have to abide by them. So best I can say is fi ya don't like them leave and start your own forum. Don't mean to be rude about it but its about all we can do...if we don't like we either suck it up or leave. |

I love to see free stuff in the HTF. Give aways can often be found all over the board. Its nice to see the sharing and generosity to/from other HTF posters. But I guess I can understand about 2 "free" threads on the same page in here. Ill be sure to start only one thread only when I do my semi-annual fridge and cupboard clean out. And, IBTL

When in doubt, shoot Peta or Nox an IM. When I was a noob on here, I posted a thread that almost got my pee pee smacked (Peta let me off with a slight nut tap instead  ), so later on when I wanted to post some things that could be taken as WTT/WTS, I IM'd Peta first. One of them was a straight NO answer, which was fine, I didn't want to get the smack for it, but another was OK'd after a short powwow with Peta on how to go about it. I can understand the wasting bandwith argument, since this is a privately owned site, but theres alot we DO get away with that on other boards or with more anal retentive mods would result in full on castration, versus a smack. |
So, it was brought to my attention that my IM was a little "dickish" so I'll offer my apologies. After doing this for a while, trying to hold hands and getting stabbed in the back, you tend to take the John Wayne TP approach and make it short and sweet, to the point, firm but fair. I will offer this to anyone else in the future, if you feel that anything I have done, or did was unjust, if it is worthy of an explanation, I'd be more than happy to do it via IM instead of riling up the natives like this thread has.

I wouldn't even look. That kind of shit is always long gone by the time I find out about it. Then I have to listen to fifty people telling stories about how good it was. I just don't need that kind of stress in my life.
