I see you were at Needle Point. I haven't been on the lake since the first weekend in March. Rains had brought it up to 690 then but they didn't start letting it climb higher until April. I want to get back there to do some more striper fishing. The is currently at 705 ft which is where they want to keep it for awhile and test the dam. Summer pool is usually 720 to 725 but that will probably be next year. To find out the water level you can check out the TVA site. http://www.tva.gov/lakes/wch_r.htm

Wow I am suprised at the lack of crap floating. I would think you could walk across the lake on the all the floating trash since it has not been up this high for years.
EDIT: SWIRE - If you ever need someone to go Striper fishing with you let me know. I have not been in years. |

The lack of trash is from the lake being up over 710 feet for a week or so and then slowly lowered to 705. That allows all the trash to blow to the bank and get stuck there. Earlier when the lake went from 680 to over 710 in just a couple of weeks people reported floating forests and advised people to take chainsaws. Next year if they take it from 705 back to 725 Someone posted this picture a couple weeks ago of the Lake Cumberland's Lochness monster. That is what people driving through at night!  This is what the lake looked like in early March after going from elevation 683 to 690 in a week.  |

I live by the lake and thankfully don't have a boat ... that said, if I did, I would be very careful in the lake right now. Especially with all the overgrowth of saplings, etc. on the banks that haven't had water in years. I was at PC Park several moths ago and there were growth patches of I'd say at least 4-5' in height. Those are just getting started to get covered and I wouldn't want to drive my boat through that. I would also be concerned about fishing it ... I know the fish are going to love those spots, but you are going to lose a ton of equipment casting or trolling close to the banks.

| I love the lake but needle point brings back really sad memories of my best friend from High School who drowned out there our senior year, I think 2 weeks from graduating? I really want to go cliff jumping some this summer but I can't tell where there are rocks at and how deep anymore. I'd rather not get paralyzed landing on a log or big rock! |

I know I have seen nights where I thought I could walk from Beaver to State Dock faster than I could get the boat there through the junk. |
