There was a movie The Mist years ago about some ghosts of pirates or something running around in the forest mist. Used to scare the crap outta me when I was a kid.

It was a good movie. I didn't like it.

It did reinforce three things for me:
- Always be prepared
- Always carry
- When the SHTF you need to know who to put down first before things are FUBAR
