Currently I really like my job. First time in years I can say that, but like OK weather it can change.

I worked for a small family owned company for 8 years, worked on straight commission, I really liked that job, good people to work for.

Dad (late 60's) owned the company, really didn't do much on the day to day operation of the company, his son (mid 30's) actually ran the company, did a pretty darn good job, generally treated people very well, and the company was quite profitable.  In 2000 dad decided to sell the business instead of just letting his son continue to run it, sold the company to a nation wide consolidator, the big company seemed like a good company, just the guy they had chosen to run their Okla operations, he was well known in the business in Okla as being a shyster and con man, after he took over things were going downhill fast.  I had a major health problem come up just about 6 weeks after he took over and he let me go, pure coincidence but it looks like it was a good time to get out anyway.

The dad's decision to sell the company ended up screwing the employees and his own son, who got screwed as well, he didn't intend for that to happen, but he should have known better than to trust a guy with a well earned reputation as a shyster and con man.

lot of that going around;

hell I've been on the regulatory side of indian gaming for a bit over 7 years and I'm pretty well worn out on it; lots of fed regs being implemented that increase an already heavy workload and no end to them in sight.

I need to get back into the gaming side of thing; workload is easier and pay is about par to slightly better.

Damn, that's sad to hear.

I really like my job most days and the ones I don't are tolerable.

I work with a great bunch of people.  The upper management clowns

don't have a clue, but we don't see them often.

If I had backing from upper management and if they would stand firm on a decision, instead of saying one thing and doing another, I could tolerate the job a lot more. I am in a management position and am getting screwed pretty bad. No or little support from upper management.

I work for myself, that being said now I have less time more work and I love every minute of it. At least I decide when to work or go hideThe Wanna-A-Be boss of the operation has not learned yet it does no good to beat a dead horses ass.
