Well i've been reading up on the forums here and on glocktalk and there are so many different setups/options with these rifles I dont feel im making any progress. Anyone care to recommend a setup for me? Just looking for something basic that I can add accessories to as needed. The weapon will be used for range shooting and I suppose HD if it came to it. I dont want to build anything myself yet. I've got around $900 saved. Seems like Bushmaster, Rock River and Colt seem to be the most popular from what i've read. Let the suggestions begin! (please)

I have a rock river entry tach

and I really like it

I got the standard package
I did add a chrome lined barrel i think that was $40.00

since I have added and egro grip and a m-73 surefire fore rail
already has the 2 stage match trigger
great gun for right around 900.00

hey Brett I thought you had a rock also

anyway I have heard many great things about Superior but have yet to shoot one

40-45

I'm no expert, but I really do like my superior arms lower.  the trigger adjustment is a very nice feature.  That combined with the JPE springs makes for a short/crisp trigger pull :)

+1 on Superior.

Make sure to get an A3 upper with either BUIS or detachable carry handle w/ A2 sights.
This gives you more options to go where you want to in the future.  Of course you can always get mounts for the A2 carry handle if you decide to.

I also recommend supporting Iowa. Go with a Superior. I own #3XX and I like it tremendously. They are now to the point where they assemble their own rifles. Give them a call or email.

i have colts, DPMS, bushy, and Superior.  all have been good to me.

the colt isn't worth the extra $ IMO.  Superior as a product and a company both, have been good to me.  i lean that way.

i'm fond of RRA as well.  local company also, just the wrong side of the river...

i'd say Superior for the upper and lower as well as quad rail.  something in an 18" barrel making it an SPR would be great.  not too short like a carbine, not too long like a rifle length.  something with a stainless or chrome moly bull barrel would be nice.  a six position telestock with a compartment like the one Apex Mountain sells would be great.  BUIS are for the people dumb enough to buy an EOTech with "N" batteries...

so do yourself a favor and go with an EOTech "AA" version...

forward vertical grip and a tactical grip for the lower are in order.  skip the bullshit flash hider and go with a barrel that has a nice crown.  you want it accurate as can be, right?  if you're hellbent on a threaded barrel, go with a vais or levang brake.  an accuwedge for $4 and a gapper for $3 are in order as well.  i can't say the accuwedge makes it more accurate, but it doesn't hurt and gapper makes for no more sore fingers after carting around the rig all day long.

HTH.

i have pics of the unit i described if you're interested.

If you are just starting out, I would get the plain Jane 16" barreled A3 Upper with detachable carry handle and adjustable buttstock. You can always switch out the handguards later for the hero look and add your optics as you save money. The brand is up to you.

Polk, this is what I have.

I just bought a Blackhawk sling so the pic doesn't show it.  It is a Superior Arms and I really like it.  It was my first AR I bought and you can't go wrong with them.  The Eotech is a 511 F.

hey,  coltgunner, of course you know i didn't mean to offend...

bb, to answer your question...  no, i rarely make it through a 30 rounder prior to the EOTech N model starting to blink...

That's not a blink from your EOTech but instead a wink...it likes you!

No offense - my Eotech takes N batteries and it doesn't like me, it hasn't winked at me yet .

Sry, edited it because I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im thinking I might just buy the next handgun on my list. The G17 the original glock! A friend of mine told me he has a 30-06 rifle with a scope (no idea which brand yet) He said the rifle cost $325 new he would sell it to me cheap im guessing $150-$200 i'll probably buy that too if it looks good.
