So does this basically mean we cannot carry autoloaders unless the magazine has no floorplate?  I don't think gluing or welding will work either.  ISP will just arrest you and let the courts work it out.  That you will lose your guns forever seems to me a forgone conclusion.  We know local police are very reluctant to give your gun back when there is no crime.  How do you think ISP will treat you?  They can run your plates, find your CCL, and pull you over for a slow lane change and voila!  Yeah, it's illegal as hell but you cannot beat city hall.  The law abiding are much easier to catch than a criminal who games the system.

It appears to me that Todd gives the state legislature too much credit for being smart.  He believes the legislature wrote this law intentionally this way with all of this magazine extensions, Remington 870 pumps illegal, conventional rifle firearms are somehow “shrouds” etc.  He may be correct that his extrapolation of the law is correct, but I doubt very seriously if they did it that way on purpose.  The whole law reads as a slew of disjointed items, thrown together like a burgoo and repeated several times.  I seriously doubt anyone but Todd has actually read it throughly.
Anyway so it stands, nothing short of a dinosaur meteor die off in Springfield and Chicago will fix it.

I dont think you give them enough credit. This was YEARS in the making. They see how the BATF can change definitions on a whim and fiqure a State Legislator could get away with even more.

10 minutes after the copy of the law was available, I brought up mini shells, how their definition of a shroud prety much describes any forend on a stock, convertable. Look back through my posts here.

Their definations where picked carefully to out law every semi auto period. Maybe not now but a year of five down the road. One big step then several little ones.

Who does the interpitation ? You or them. I'll give you a clue its not you.

It doesn't matter who wrote it or why.  Government will always use very angle to abuse it's power.

Here is an opinion I hope is right.  TL;DR the judge may have overstepped his bonds by granting this stay, forcing SCOTUS to intervene.  We are watching history being made boys and girls.
