I have a hanging tomato garden.

My first ripe tomato had a soft opaque bottom about 1 inch in diameter.

What the hell?

Am I doomed with others?

Do you have any pictures of it?

It may be over ripe or just a random event. We pull all our tomatoes when they are red but not bright red. Then they will ripen on the kitchen counter.

Your tomatoes have "blossom end rot".  It can be caused by heat stress, infrequent watering or lack of calcium.  Once it starts it is difficult to stop.  I had a rather bad case last year with most of my tomatoes including the upside down method.  This year nothing yet....

Check for worms inside.
I had that 2 years ago and had to use chemicals.
Didn't want to but, BLTS!

I thought I would add that my garden is starting to produce. We have been getting quite a few grape tomatoes and gren beans and the rest is starting to ripen up.

My dog has started eating tomato's right off the plant.

She is 12yo and started doing this last year. Going to put up a fence later.

My buddies dog ate unripe tomatoes that have solanine? in them that made him sick.

I think the ripe ones are fine for dogs though.

I guess just be wary - FYI.

I hope mine turn out better.
