Guys, I have a question concerning a private transaction of a firearm(long Gun) between two residents of the same state. Is it legal or has anyone heard if this type of sell can take place through the US mail without the Use of an FFL. for example... Me and ole joel have decided to do some trading and I live in S alabama and he lives in N alabama. We are both residents of the great state of Alabama. Can we transfer these weapons via common carrier or USPO with out filling a yellow sheet? Or are we missinformed? Thanks for the Help |

It's my understanding that you can ship firearm (long gun) to someone within the state without having an FFL in hand. Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer and don't pretend to be one, so I could be wrong. Why not go down to the PO and ask them about it? The lady at the UPS (don't know about the PO) counter always wants to see an FFL, either yours, or that of the person/business receiving the firearm. I've not used the PO, but I understand they don't ask about the package contents. |
