Let's say I lived in a state to the north of Ohio, where I legally own a couple long guns and a handgun. However, do not at this time have a CPL(CCW, whatever Ohio calls it). If I wanted to go visit some friends of mine in the Bowling Green,OH area and bring along my guns so we all could shoot, would I legally be allowed to do so? This is assuming I transport them unloaded, cased, and locked the entire way.
Thanks. On a side note, if this is perfectly legal, as I assume it is, anyone know a good shooting place around the Bowling Green area? |
| No loaded firearms, no loaded mags, no mags over 30 rounds. We don't have any AWBs. You should be fine. Make sure a guns are stored in a case. It would probably behoove you to just to store them in the trunk too. We really don't have that many asinine firearm laws and the ones we do we're working on changing. |

Thanks! Good to know...now, anyone have any ideas of where to shoot in the Bowling Green/Wood County Area? There are a lot of good gun clubs within a short drive of Bowling Green but you have to be a member at most of them. There are probably more but the only two I can think of off-hand that are open to the public are: Clelands Outdoor World in (Swanton Ohio next to Toledo Airport) you can shoot handguns and archery indoors and Toledo Trap & skeet (Berkey Ohio) where you can shoot Trap, Skeet and they have an indoor pistol range. If you are going to shoot a lot, it would probably be better for you to join one of the gun clubs in the area. If you are looking for somewhere closer to home for you, Monroe Rod & Gun is a decent all around club. Adams Conservation Club in Holland Ohio is probably about half-way for you and your friend and is the biggest and most comprehensive club in the area. It has the most accessible location of any gun club in Northwest ohio too. You can fish, swim, Shoot rifle out to 200 yards, 3 Pistol ranges, Trap, Skeet, 5 stand, Various Archery ranges plus lots of indoor shooting in the cold months too (.22 rifle, .22 Pistol and Archery) For the general all around shooter/hunter, there is no better club in the area. Adams allows guests but it is very limited. If you wanted to shoot with your friend a lot and wanted to use this club t, it would be better if you and your friend both joined. Some of the other clubs in the area have their niches that are better for specific types of shooters (such as some are big into shooting events, really long range riifle, allowing full-autos, 50 cal, indoors etc.) If you fall into one of those niches I can give you some names of clubs that help you there too. |
