I was wondering if it was "legal" to transport loaded AR mags in the trunk of your car when going to the shooting range. I understand that having a fixed magazine rifle/shotgun with the mag loaded (and nothing in the chamber) is a BIG no no. I was just wondering if it was the same for AR's consdiering that the mag detaches and can be stored in another container.

Thanks,

Mike

Sec. 43513.

Yes, you can.  The above is stating towards a fixed magazine style rifle.  You can transport loaded AR mags, AK mags, Glock mags, Styer mags, HK mags, etc...  As long as they are inacessable from the occupants (mainly the driver) of a vehical.  I have been pulled over once before with my AR mags fully loaded in the magazine ouches built into my rifle case & not a word was said.  Same thing with my detachable box .30-06-  In a seperate pouch built into the rifle case.

Hope that answers your question simply enough.

Thank you very much. I thought the same thing, I just wanted to check. I have a lot of mags loaded up for SHTF and defensive purposes and eventually I will have to empty them to rotate ammo.

Thanks again,

Mike
