My place of employment is looking for a male drill instructor to replace one who will be going to Bahrain with the Navy.
Requirements: Meet Marine Corps height/weight standards. Be able to pass a Marine Pft. Passing grade is 5 pullups, 50 crunches and 1.5 miles in 14:00 This is the entry level PFT we have a yearly full PFT that we must run which is tougher but you will get in better shape by working with the juveniles. Military experience is not required but it is VERY preferable. Initially your job as a Drill Instructor is to instill discipline in the children. We work with Juveniles from 13-19 years old who are multiple time felons. This is a medium security facility and while prior convictions are not a bar to employment, none of them can have been sexually motivated. You must also not be under any restraining orders. If you have military experience or you know what you are doing without a lot of training the pay can start above $12 an hour. Our senior drill staff make closer to $19 an hour and none of them have been here more than 3 years. Medical and dental benefits are included as is a 403B plan(non profit version of a 401K) Send me an IM for more info. |

Allow me to elaborate. Our Chief Drill Instructor is a retired Marine who spent his last 7 years in the Corps at MCRD San Diego. He got the Chief position and fired off the drill staff who were not pulling their weight/doing their jobs. We have junior staff who have been there for 6 years or more but after house cleaning the dross we needed to promote to a more senior position some people who were short timers but had experience. Much less complacency that way. My Junior/Senior statement may have been misconstrued. It is not a hinky operation by any means. |
