Can't see it happening without some major political upheaval.  I'd take (most) of yours anyday.

Hey Fluke, welcome.....

I thought Virginia was pretty cool where gun laws were concerned... What's occuring over there? Or were you meaning the US in general?

Welcome......

Has the Governement actually said what they want to do yet?....I know there's lots of talk and conjecture but nobody seems to know what they plan to do yet.

No, but the collective brain trust in GD has spoken, so it's a done deal.
I believe that a bill similar to the '94 "Assault Weapons Ban" has been introduced to the House of Representatives, but this same bill has been introduced every year since it expired.  It usually dies in committee, and does not make it to a a full House vote.  I don't think that this is considered to be a top priority for politicians right now.  There have already been two high profile murders committed with AK-47 type rifles since Obama has been in office, and the national media and politicians have been fairly quiet.  [I hope I'm not wrong in my assessment].

Honestly, I think there's a good chance that eventually gun laws, primarily dealing with manufacturing/purchasing (not current ownership), will return to how they were under Clinton.  This mainly equates to limited options on EBRs/AKs, and reduced capacity magazines.   In addition, I think that ammunition, specifically the"non-sporting" sort, could be subject to extreme taxation in the near future.   I foresee no impending, wide-scale bans, confiscations, etc.

Unfortunately, with no Govt bans, this means that the studs in GD have to rely on Cuba & Russia (now substitute Iran & Hizbullah) to invade the US, in order to fulfill their Red Dawn fantasies.

Hopefully things won't get to bans and restrictions. Can't see how bans on such a scale could be implemented and policed....the cost far outweighs the benefit, surely.  They've implemented bans here that have cost millions to police and compensate, only to see a rise in gun crime. That was done purely as a vote winner.

Know what you mean about GD though.....There's a lot of keyboard commandos who seem to spend most of their time winding themselves up into a real state of fear about what lies ahead.  I don't think it's anything to do with the nutjob factor.....more to do with having a deep mistrust of politicians.

Careful... they'll catch your scent, and flood in from GD if they hear that.  I personally think they have the hots for Patrick Swayze, but won't admit it.

Pardon my question, but you won't be able to work for two years, due to personal reasons or U.S. laws?
