USA Today 2nd Amendment Poll http://www.usatoday.com/news/quickquestion/2007/november/popup5895.htm Vote now, hopefully some lawmakers will take notice! |
| Once again, it's the wrong question. Pay close attention to the wording in such polls. In order to accurately and truthfully answer that, you would have to say NO. Since the second amendment, and all the others for that matter, GIVE us nothing. They are there to secure our pre-existing, natural rights. By answering in this manner, they will use the results to show that the majority do not believe the 2nd gives us the right to own firearms, and therefore push to get rid of them faster. If, on the other hand, they get the results showing that the majority do believe the 2nd gives them that right, then it will be used to demonstrate that if the constitution GIVES us rights, then, new rules can be written to remove those rights. And they will use that info to push for getting rid of them faster by making rules demanding so. So it's a no win situation. And it's worded that way deliberately for just such reasons. No polls ever ask if the first amendment GIVES you the right to practice your religion, do they? |
