I took a year off between jobs a few years ago and I really liked it.  It made me gain a whole new appreciation for retirement.

I was a manager at my parents autobody repair shop long story short they sold out and retired the new owners (gerber collision) said they would no longer need my services so now I am not sure where to go or what to do. I really want to get a job at a police dept. But i have 10+ years in autobody repair management, parts,qc and customer service.

Have you considered looking at Griffin?  They have a bunch of stuff going on there with body shops and those places build out box trucks and the like.  Hope it works out for you.

A covered job @ Ga Power is a hard gig to get unless you have family or friends in high places within the company .

I worked in substation construction as a WTO for two or three years when I was fresh out out of college.

There are those rare times when I wish I was still drawing a check from GPC but then I come to my senses.

They were overly political correct to a fault and that was over 20 years ago. I can only imagine what it must be like today.

Good luck...!!!!!!!

Foreman..  I am sorry for your situation.  I have been laid off about six years ago.  I had three months with no pay and my wedding was coming up in four months.   So I was really stressed out.   I know you will find something good very soon.  I will keep an ear open for opportunities for you.

If you get over to the Alpharetta/John's Creek area, let me know and I will buy you a beer.

Atlanta PD is always hiring at a fast pace.  largest PD in the state with arguably the fastest upward tracking as well.  recruit pay before Academy should meet your minimum to keep your house.

I got "released" from my previous job (kind of a mutual split really, but for economic reasons I didn't really want to leave at that time, they just had enough of me I guess) and ended up taking another gig driving further than I was at my last job, making less money, with a worse benefits package.

Really humbled me up.  I didn't realize how good I had it.

In the pursuit of getting back to a position similar to what I had before, dude, I don't envy you guys without a job right now.  I'm not making shit (I honestly could make about the same money, maybe a little less on unemployment right now), but it's something and I'm not under huge pressure to find another job other than I'm unsatisfied with where I am right now.

Good luck and godspeed, y'all.

Some of the Tech schools offer lineman courses.  It's hard work but there are jobs.  One of my brothers has been doing this for almost a year now.  Georgia Power is redoing all of the lines around Savannah, so there is a ton of contract work.

Something to consider.

You lied when you hired me...

You told me I would get issued a gun and a Segway if I hired on with your company and I got neither

Some day I will find a job that will satisfy both of my greatest obsessions.

OK, the silly ass looking helmets are a deal killer unless they will allow me to add flames or something to spruce it up.

I also imagined leather tassels hanging off the grips of the Segway along with a little bling and some 22's.

With Derek's $$$ and Red Jacket's skill the options are limitless!!!
