We bought a new PC a few months ago that came with the upgrade to W7 when released.  It showed up yesterday.  I know there are several here that have used it and others that have some PC expertise.

The PC is a Core 2 Quad Q8200 with 4G DDR3, 640 GB HD (single partition) and integrated graphics (I know, that sucks but it is much better than our old system WITH a graphics card ).  The system is running 64 bit Vista Home Premium and will be upgrading to W7 Home Premium.

The questions is, Is there anything in particular that I need to be aware of and do before hand or should I just plug in the 2 DVDs in the order that the 6 sentences of instructions say to do?

I've been trying to upgrade my laptop to winders 7 for about 3 weeks now and I work for the bastards....

Well, I did go on vacation to elk hunt for a week of that and they closed my help desk request while I was gone.

Drivers are what'll kill ya. Find what you need for what you got *before* pushing the go button. If there is no W7 driver for what you have, call or do some research on what is compatable.

Vista drivers often work with Windows 7, I've done that when all else is cold.

Their little upgrade advisor has told me no issues.  Our printer is the oldest thing and it is only a couple years old.  Shows drivers available.

Make sure you back up anything important before the upgrade.

I've read about a nasty bug that puts you into a reboot loop post upgrade, essentially bricking your machine and requiring a reinstall.

Always back up before you upgrade.

Windows 7 upgrade went fine for me on three machines, all of them are older than the one listed in the OP.

Installed the 64 bit version with no issues and it auto installed all my drivers either during install or with Windows Update.

Been running since release and am loving it.
