From VCDL. The following gun bills are scheduled to be heard in Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee #1 tomorrow, Thursday, February 2nd, at 5 PM. The meeting is held on the 7th floor in the West conference room. The bills are scheduled to be heard in this order (but order CAN change based on circumstances): HB 704, Delegate Hogan, preempts counties from controlling discharge or hunting, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 1447, Delegate Watts, expands definition of firearms show to cover flea markets or anywhere similar where even a single gun is offered for display, sale or trade, STRONGLY OPPOSE HB 1495, Delegate Amundson, bans carry at any school board meeting, STRONGLY OPPOSE HB 1577, Delegate Cline, allows someone other than Clerk of Court to sign permits, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 1578, Delegate Cline, defines "personal knowledge" of a disqualification by a Commonwealth Attorney and others that are trying to block a CHP issuance, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 1401, Delegate Carrico, removes fingerprinting requirement for CHPs, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 167, Delegate Lingamfelter, lifetime CHP, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 424, Delegate Nutter, full recognition of all CHPs and CWPs from other states, VCDL requested bill, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 830, Delegate Welch, extends CHP expiration for deployed military, STRONGLY SUPPORT HB 769, Delegate Sickles, requires that a person receiving a CHP gets a state-created pamphlet on deadly force laws, OPPOSE HB 895, Delegate Gear, allows permit holders to carry in non-sterile area of airport terminals, VCDL requested bill, STRONGLY SUPPORT Come to show support for the pro-gun bills and to show opposition to the anti-gun bills. I will be there to represent the organization as usual. -- In the 33rd Senate race on Tuesday, the VCDL-PAC endorsed Mick Staton LOST to MMM supporter, Mark Herring. The turnout was extremely low and I'm sorry to say that gun owners did not do their part in that election. Mark Herring did not turn in a VCDL survey, but will soon see how he views are right to keep and bear arms. We MUST clean up the Senate and gun owners not turning out to vote isn't going to get the job done. In less than two years we will have the opportunity to re-elect Senators, let's not blow it. Remember: every bad Senator that gets elected we are stuck with for FOUR YEARS. |
