This video was sent to me by a friend. It is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles. She won't get any respect in the Arab community. First, she's a woman. Second, and most importantly, because she is not a Muslim. The one guy asked if she is a heretic, and then said that if she was, further conversation was useless. That will be the attitude of most. If she said she was born to a Christian family and was never a Muslim, she might get away with it. But she didn't deal with the question and they will all asume that she is an apostate Muslim, which according to their law, is an automatic death sentence. Thirdly, she doesn't condemn Jews or Israel and pointed out their accomplishments. I happen to agree with just about everything she said, but that won't get her anywhere in the Muslim world. She did state one error that I'm aware of. There was an incident probably 20 years ago when an Israeli went into a Mosque with a Galil and slaughtered a bunch of Arabs before he was shot by an Israeli policeman or soldier. The Irgun under a young Menachim Begin also blew up the King David hotel in 1947?, plus a number of other terrorist acts against the occupying British forces. However, it would be accurate to say that Israel renounced terrorist acts after the establishment of Israel in 1948 and they did not commit terrorist acts against civilians, or in other countries, or for religious reasons. |

I agree with the last comments. Most importantly why she will not succeed is, although I want her to succeed, is sadly that she is a women. The Muslims probably look at her like we look at some hick cheating on his wife with the family dog on Moury Provich show. They probably listen in disbelief. |
Understandably. As credible as her "message" may be, it is valid only in a free society.......the ONLY place she has credibility to voice an opinion. A bit of gender-based ego grandstanding for the speaker, despite her condemnation of violence; and will be traditionally ignored by her intended audience, unfortunately. Just another media record of historical aberrations.........(voices in the wind) IMHO, BFD. |
It's a good video though, and even if she did misstate a couple of incidents, the rest of her reasoning is spot on.
| She made some valid points but like you guys said..because she's a woman she won't have any credibility in the Muslim world..it's unfortunate that they believe the way they do about how they need to burn down churches to make themselves known and their message known. All that says is that they are ignorant and unwilling to hear anyone else's opinion. |
