I'll be in the Denver area for a weekend soon.  What should I see there?  Is the big flea market worth seeing anymore?  How about the 16th street walking mall?  Any good gun stores?  Thanks for any info.

Not my experience, but then again, I don't go in "kickin tires" and actually spend money.

well, it's my experience, which is why I said it––and you may have more of that money left over if you spent it somewhere else.

rest assured, i'm not a gun shop bullshitter––i go in, purchase what i want, and get out, just not from MGT.

Got it.  I work downtown Denver––to me, the 16th st mall isn't much of a destination attraction.  There are tacky tourist shops and tons of chain restaurants.  But, there are plenty of good restaurants on it, as well as a few blocks off it.  it seems to get trashier and full of homeless more and more every day.

I've not been to the big flea market, but they still advertise alot on the radio and TV.

how about a rockies game?  if you like lacrosse, there is both indoor and outdoor lacrosse (at invesco and pepsi center).  if you like soccer, there's the MLS champion Colorado Rapids, too

Thought about going to a baseball game.  Its been 20yrs since I lived there, so I'm sure its totally different.  I know its a lot bigger from what some friends have told me.  Dunno, we may just play it by ear.  Thanks for the info.

ohhh... another local gun store pissing thread... lovely.

16th Mall is a shithole (at least the people that hang out on that street are).

I haven't been to the flea market in years, but it's good for some laughs and if you want to buy some cheap stuff that will break in 2 days.  I'm sure there's good deals there... I just have never seen any.  Trash selling trash is what it seems like.

Someone already mentioned a Rockies game.  Any kids?  The aquarium is popular.

+1 to a Rockies game. Coors Field has the kind of friendly vibe that Wrigley and the old Comiskey Park did, and Yankee Stadium and the new Comiskey don't.

Bass Pro: go and check out their fish tank. Painfully expensive to do anything else there, though.

Or go to the real Aquarium, like the man said above.

You can tour the Coors brewery. Or you can skip that, go to the Avery brewery in Boulder or Lefthand in Longmont and watch good beer being made.

16th street mall is a people-watching experience and a few good restaurants. I wouldn't go unarmed, personally.

Check out the REI flagship store in Denver.  Pretty awesome store, and they refurbished an old building( I think a steel mill or something) and the is tons of neat facts about it in the entrance.

REI was a train depot building, and is an awesome old building. Tilted Kilt on 16th St for a good shepherds pie, and neck cramp.

...And there's Casa Benita, you know, like on South Park...(shhh, everyone be quite...)

That's it.  Great store, and cool building to check out.  Certainly worth a trip IMHO.

I just posted another thread, but I'll ask here too.  How is the security at Coors Field.  Will they let you through with a pocket knife?

if you're a craft brew fan and are willing to drive a bit (1:15 max) there plenty of great breweries in ft. collins.  there are some in denver, too, boulder, lyons, etc.  all have some element of tours and tastings, some free, some not, but they're all relatively cheap even if they charge for the beers.  all the tours are free that i know of.

a different tour i enjoyed in boulder was at the celestial seasonings tea packaging plant.  probably not a destination by itself, but if you like shows like "how its made" you might enjoy it.  might not, though. i think they only run the operation on the weekdays, but you can take the tours on the weekend and the plant is dormant.  being in a room with a thousands of pounds of mint is an eye-watering, lung energizing experience.
