Hello,

a friend of mine will be visiting Phoenix in late September. He need some recommendations what to visit. He's interestet in guns, military and history, maybe some nature.

Phoenix and other locations within a distance of 3 or 4 hours of driving.

I would be very pleased for some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Pima Air Museum, Davis Monthan airplane boneyard, Titan II ICBM museum, all in the Tucson area, about 2 hours south.

Scottsdale Gun Club, a tour of Dillon Precision, both in Scottsdale about five minutes apart.

For a spectacular drive with great scenery, take RT88 in the east valley up through Tortilla Flat for lunch. The keep going up to Roosevelt Lake. You will pass Canyon and Apache Lake and some of the most awesome scenery in Arizona.
Stop by AJI Sporting goods on Apache Trail if you wanna check out some guns...it's on your way to RT88.

I like the little mining town way up in the hills - Jerome, AZ. Total tourist trap but it's a beautiful place.

Jerome is beautiful.  I take the family up there now and again just to spend the day.
Just pay no attention to the hippies
