We need a Moderator like we need a new AWB but then again we might enjoy someone to poke and torment Vote for a NHTF Mod First up Is FRIGUY list why you think he will be a good mod in this thread. Second is NMwaterfowler list why you think he will be a good mod in this thread. I am not promising anything will come of this but lets start poking and poke often. You need only be a registered member to vote. All shenanigans welcome do your best. |

First, I am not sure that any of us would have a say in who becomes a mod.
I know most of you guys already know the story of the HTF and how you guys have helped it grow from nothing into the best part of Arfcom. I want to see it continue to grow and while we have been able to police ourselves fairly well in the past it is becoming somewhat apparent that having an active mod would benefit both the HTF and the site. I told you all in the past that I wouldn't be a mod. That was before I realized that we needed one in order to keep growing. If the powers that be will take me, I will happily do it for the HTF. Vb, Thanks for the nod. I do think we could use a mod, and I would have no problem doing it. It is a thankless job, but somebody (friiguy) has to do it. The only people that get out of line here are people who don't frequent the nmhtf. I don't think any of us will have a hard time putting them in their place.
SsevenN, I am power hungry. Being a mod would definitely go to my head. I would bring down the ban hammer. I remember when I came to work where I am now I was hired as the manager. The owner asked me if I knew why we had double doors in the front of the business. He didn't like my response, but he proceeded to tell me it was so his big headed managers could fit through the door. I see no reason why we wouldn't get a new mod if we as a whole wanted one. I am sure site staff would agree. This is not a knock on Mcgrubbs, but he is not around very often. |

I was forwarded a link to this thread, so I guess I'll chime in. The Mod listed for this forum gave up his spot several months ago. I was aware of this and have been checking on this forum to try and help keep up with things. Luckily you guys do a good job of Modding yourselves, so I haven't had to do to much. I also have been lax with regards to coming to the forum everyday, because of how this forum runs. During this time, I have also been looking into finding another potential candidate for the Mod job. We use several criteria for how we pick Mods, especially for our HTFs. Once a final decision has been made, and the person agrees to accept the position, you guys will be the first to know.  |

I know my opinion doesn't mean much, as I am not around a whole lot. But I think Friiguy would be a good mod. He seems to be around the most and is in every topic room. I'm trying to be around more, but its hard with a wife, 3 kids (one lives in Phoenix), going to school full time and working full time. You guys have made me feel welcome, Thank you. Its nice to have some guys to talk about guns with.

Friiguy requested I 'hit up the NM HTF'. so here I am. I know my vote may not count for much but I talk to Fri a LOT outside of ARFCOM and I know that he has done a lot for this particular forum and he'd make a good mod. He's also a good listener...
ETA-I don't have much of a life, and I tend to pop into other HTFs when really bored. I remember this forum used to not have a lot of traffic. It's certainly changed now, and for the better. |

As with all things political, only two things count. First is experience, as we all know there is none in this HTF so well versed in the CoC as the Friiguy, so in that respect he should naturally be the Mod if we must have one. Second is familiarity, we all know Frii (or at least of him) and we all have opinions of him (which are like certain parts of the anatomy) my opinion is one that I am sure many of you share, he can and would do the job better than any other here, and has done his undergrad work as promoter quite well. There is one alternative to either of the above, (just look at DC) and that is Suction. So Frii, I submit to you the following: can you suck a golfball through a fifty foot garden hose? How many inches of vacuum can you pull? Can you deflate an onion sack? Do you plan to go pelosian in this roll if you are given it? |

For those who don't know me, I'm a mod in the Reloading Forum. I know Friiguy, iluvguns, and NMwaterfowler from their posts in the Reloading Forum. 'bout a year ago someone was giving away a Lee reloading press and was asking for suggestions or worthy recipients. The flood gates opened, and I kept seeing the name Friiguy mentioned. So I visited the NMHTF and checked out this Friiguy. I was impressed, he seemed to be well liked on his home ground. He ended up getting the press. A short time later, I had a contest, and you guessed it.... Friiguy won. He was on a nice roll. To prove he is mortal he didn't do well in my last contest. You win some, you loose some. I hope Site Staff will give him a try, he has my vote, for what it's worth. edit to fix a fat finger typo. |
