Why can't we say ass??  or for that matter anything else in this forum? they say more on tv than we are alowed to say here. I just reviewed the COC and there is nothing in there that says we can't use such words. Here, take a look and see if any of you can find anything in there that says we can't use ass, sh*t, damn, so on and so on.

General Guidelines
1.) Posting derogatory comments of a racial, religious, or sexual nature. This includes your username, signature line, and title. Site Staff and Moderators reserve the right to edit these items and to remove your ability to modify them in the future.

2.) Posting pictures* or links to images which contain pornography, nudity+, animal cruelty, racism, or sexism. (Any images of violence which are extreme will be removed and may result in a warning or worse.)

*Posts with images of violence or photos of scantly clad men or women should contain a warning in the title. These types of images will not be tolerated if inserted at random in other discussions.

+Nudity includes any photo which contains a clear view of genitalia or female nipples.

3.) Posting or linking to information on how to make illegal modifications to firearms or purchase illegal items.

4.) Posting comments or links in support of illegal activities including, but not limited to, threats against the life of any living person, doing harm to a state or federal official, or advocating the overthrow of the government.

5.) Posting of someone else's personal contact information (home phone numbers, home addresses, unpublished e-mail addresses, and the like).

6.) Repeatedly attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner.

7.) Posting topics or discussions with the desire to do the site or community harm. More specifically creating topics meant to disrupt the site's day to day management, disrupt member's resources, or disrupt the ability for the site to function normally.

8.) Posting repeat topics with similar or slightly varying titles. While it may seem to be funny, the "spamming" of the community in this manner results in problems for users and management. (Multiple topics on important issues or discussions are acceptable, this only applies to topics which waste resources for no other reason except personal enjoyment or humor.)

The hometown forums have different rules. Please don't use open profanity out of respect to the other Carolinas members.

FYI:
-There is no selling in hometown, we have an excellent EE forum here and a link just for searching local deals.
-Everything included in the Code of Conduct
-Open profanity is not allowed in the Carolina's forum

is that something that you made up????? Because I don't see that in any other forum.

A few Carolina members expressed concern over the amount of profanity in the forum. I asked staff what the rules were on the subject and they said it was up to me. Until not too long ago people would usually take the time to at least "fuzz" up their cuss words. This seemed like a reasonable solution. Most Carolina members don't care one way or another, some like it and about five (that I know of) hate it. If one feels like they simply must openly curse then there are plenty of places that would be happy to have them.

I know I promised that I wouldn't post in Carolinas HTF again, but I just had to chime in on this.   Don't we have to be adults to sign up here?  Most adults  I know can overlook a "damn" or "shit" here and there.

Please have my account terminated, if you feel it's necessary.  No hard fucking feelings.

so it is your rule then.

Look, Johnny, I got nothing against you personally what-so-ever, but I really have something against the way you moderate this board. Edit this, edit that, bla bla bla. I think sling_blade is right, most of us can put up with a shit or damn here and there, or a bitch in the title of their thread.

This is a pretty petty thing to be complaining about, isnt it?  If the rule of the forum is don't curse, then don't curse.  Points are better made without any extra "filler" IMO.

I'll have to agree with you.  If I say "shit" in a post, it's a pretty petty thing for someone to complain about, isn't it?  Aren't we all adults here?  Possibly not.

Maybe the CoC should be amended, so the rules are the same all across the board.  Or not.  Maybe we could have 87 different CoC's, one for every little corner of the site.  Wait a second, that's how it is now!   Neverfugginmind.

I have nothing against you personally either. I hope we will get the chance to shoot together soon.
I would rather not edit anything on this board but if the poster won't do it then I have to step in. The hometown forums (especially this one)are the best part of this site and I do my best to make everyone feel welcome. If you are unhappy with the way things are run here then don't post here.

- Judging by how some of us are acting, if everyone here is an adult, they certainly arent acting like it.

If you are unhappy with the way things are run here then don't post here. That's not a good way to entice new folks to post here

Assuming we are all adults..then we shouldn't have a problem following the rules of the site should we.
If staff told u352 that it was his call on the profanity in his forum..then that means we agree with his call and will back him up.
I can and do curse with the best of them..but not in front of my children, mother in law , brother and law who is a minister, etc, etc.
See..I'm an adult and smart enough and mature enough to realize there is a time and place for everything and if I'm a guest in someone's home..I need to respect their rules or face the consequences.
There are bigger things in this world to get worked up over then being asked not to use profanity on a website..but if this is the hill you want to die on..

Well, I have to agree with Striker.  I use profanity quite frequently and I'm not above throwing in a few choice words now and then when writing, BUT when here on AR15 ( and especially on the home town forum as u352 said)  I try to remember that I don't know everyone that may read through the threads so I pick and choose my words.  I personally prefer to be able to show a thread to friends now and then and it's tough if they are early teens taht are getting into the shooting sports or the type that choose not to use profanity.  I truely appreciate what u352 has been doing and I hope that if anyone gets fired up and uses words that other may consider objectionable, then don't get mad at u352 if he "rewords" your original. I'm glad he's here as a back-up filter so if I have a brain fade he's got my back. I just try to think of this forum as a public meeting with new people and their families.  If I watch my choice of words then all are happy.

Yeah I know, blame us geezers.  We're used to it.

Thanks u352

Man, it's very refreshing to see guys like U352, NCPatrol and Striker step up and show there are actually people who still have principles. I am one of those guys who don't swear. I appreciate the fact that there are those who are still sensitive to 'my kind'. That is one of the reasons I visit this forum, and not all the 'countless' others out there. If I wanted to show my pastor there is someone on here diagnosed with cancer and send him the link via email to the post so he can see how to be praying, I would not offend him or myself. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

For those of you who still WANT to swear on here, there are definitely bigger challenges in life that we sometimes are faced with, jmzd4, you should know that. (By the way, we are praying constantly for your mom!!)

it doesn`T matter  to me if someone uses what someone else considers  words that should NOT  be read on this forum. but it is like anything else. IF YOU DON`T LIKE WHAT IS PRINTED ON THE THREAD, DON`T READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have that choice.  maybe be there could be a icon on a thread that that has a few words on it that  the OH MY~S  wouldn`t  click on the thread.    rich

My ESP doesn't work as well as yours. I don't know what is written until I read it.
Follow the rule and you don't need the icon.
The mod made the rule.It was and is upheld by his boss.Whats the problem?
If it is still a problem with you or anyone else, contact Goatboy.I think he is the "top dog" on ARFCOM.
Is it going to have to be written in the "official" rules to get you to comply? The answer is no because some will still disreguard it and post what you want.Just to be an a** about it.
Which also shows the disrespect you have for the mods and your fellow posters.
I too have a foul mouth at times but out of respect for others here and in person I try to hold it in check. Not always sucessful when in person but when typing it is very easy to use a word or phrase that will get your point across.Dang it!
Now lets put this to bed and talk happy things...Like whos going to the Greensboro gun show or whats your next toy going to be?

The way I see it is"His house, his rules"  you don't like it, move on.  Everyone from here that has met me knows that I use profanity like punctuation, but I have enough respect for those around me to temper my tongue when it is not appropriate.  If you want to curse in your threads, there are plenty of boards around that allow it...I'm an admin on two of 'em But, I come here because of the good folks I know that post here, and I respect the rules of the house.

Ok I get the feeling this started from my post called "  My litte squinty eyed bitch at Davi's Guns can read. (Rant again, long) ". If Johnny doesn't want me to cuss here then ok I won't (much). But answer me this. If I say "F**king A**hole". Then you read it, you know exactly what I ment. So why not just spell the word out anyway? You've allready filled in the blank in your head, so the damage is allready done.
