Just dropped mine off and the lady told me they have 45 days to complete by law

That really doesn't mean it'll take that long though.

Office gal told me the same thing, but also mentioned it would probably be only about a week.

It took me 3 weeks the first time and a little over 2 the second time.  I let mine lapse  The first was in Clay county and the second was in Putnam.

A friend of mine took something like 6 weeks... However long the absolute max time is.  He was in Kanawha.

Dropped my app. off on a Friday and got the call that it was ready to pick up the following Thursday.  This was in Berkeley County.

I think mine was 10 days.  I dropped it off on a Thursday, and picked it up 2 weeks later.  Much shorter than the maximum time allowed, but definately not 3 days.

Berkeley County....not that I'm armed or anything....icky guns.

I was surprised at how fast I got mine in Monongalia County, especially since the sheriff there has a link to the Brady Campaign on the sheriff's department web site.

Think I'm kidding?

Still waiting on mine... Jefferson County. With my job, it's not like I have anything on
my record, but they're taking their time.......

It'll be interesting to hear what they have to say for themselves. Everything I've read,
including the sheriff's own website says that it's $75 when you turn in the application,
and $15 when you go to pick it up. They charged me $80 when I turned in my papers.

I'm going to take a copy of their webpage print-out when I go to pick it up, just in case.

But, doesn't Jefferson get the nice new photo ID?  Berkeley gets a Playskool/CrackerJack laminated piece of copy paper.  Hell, I'd pay the extra $5 for that

Yeah yours will take some time Tanker. My friends dad sent his in about this time last year and it took 35 days.  Said the guy who does the permits and back ground checks always takes his vacations and other training at this time of year.  And he is the only one that does them.   But you will get a call around the 30 day mark.

hehe.  By next dinner you will have a gun on you to keep miller from humping your leg.

Mon County is the same way, but at least they're laminated. Kanawha County's are a little nicer -- laminated with the county seal heat-embossed.

SO called saying that I could come pick up my card Mon-Thu, 9-5... only problem, I don't
get home until around 1830 or so.....

I guess I'll just have to take a day off work, go pick it up, then do some work on the 'Honey
Do' list.....

Yep, exactly what I did. But to give myself a break, I didn't take the whole day off and didn't get to the honey doo until reallllllly late.

Well, it looks like it'll be abt a week or so until I can go get it...

I work MON-THU next week, then taking FRI off to go to Williamsburg to some shindig
that we're supposed to go to for the in-laws. Mrs. Tanker's Dad is being installed as the
Grand Royal Patron of Virginia, for Eastern Star (Masonic group), so he wanted us to be
there for it.

Nice idea, but since I work down in Crystal City, I take the train in, so it's 'go to work or not',
as I've pretty much decided that I won't drive unless the Potomac is flooding Point of Rocks,
or something like that.

Half-days aren't an option, as such, and our agency has run screaming the other direction
so far at the mention of "work from home." Doable for 90% of my work, but ... ah well....
