We talked about this place a while back.

I'd still be interested in a tour if a member was willing to show some of us around.

Thanks for the link.

Their website is pretty dry on what membership entails.  Nothing other than sponsorship and a $200 initial fee for new members.

They are open to the public on Sat/Sun at 10:00 am, shotgun ranges only though.

I'm planning on checking them out this weekend.  Would definetly be nice to find a place close by

If you have a stuffed shirt, you'll fit in nicely with those guys.

I was a member up until a few years back.  I only live 5 miles away, but I'd be hard pressed to ever go there again.  That club has far to members who like to tell everyone else what to do.  I was actually on the range one time when another member walked up and removed my bolt from my rifle during a target change.  He thought it was safer that way.  It's a shame because they have great facilities.  I have heard however that their membership is down and the new president is trying hard to change the way they are perceived.  How close do you live to Howell?  I'm a member out there and it's a fun place to shoot.

Good luck.

I stopped by about a year ago, and the facilities were very nice.  It was crazy packed on a Sunday with tons of people sitting around drinking, smoking and BSing.

I never got around to joining, because I'm only in Plymouth about 6 months of the year, and I'm having a hard time justifying the cost... but I've been thinking about it lately, now that I'm home from school for the next few months and the pit is so far away.

I'm in Dearborn so Plymouth is much closer than Howell.  I'm going to try to stop by WWCA this weekend to check it out.

I live very close to WWCCA and am a member....hard pressed to try to convince you to join.

I agree with a couple posts.  There are some assholes old timers who will walk the line and watch for any infraction....like more than one round in a magazine.  I was under the impression you could load upto 3 rounds and shoot if you did not fire rapid fire...like one round every 3-4 seconds was OK.  I had done that for a couple years until I get this flat topped feisty old guy who tried his best to start an arguement with me and took down my name and memebrship number threatening to "file a violation" on me.  I wouldn't take the bait and killed him with kindness...."OK, sir.  If you think that best"  " I understand, sir.  I was just doing what I had observed others doing, sir."  " I apologize in the extreme, sir."  I was keeping a straight face but actually had some fun with it.  I could finally see the wind go out of his sail when he realized I wasn't gonig to argue with him.  He told me he'd let it go "this time" folding the piece of paper with my name and member number on it and putting it in his pocket.  Me, "OK, sir.  If you think that best."

Very nice facilities but a fiesty group of old people.  I am the most respectful guy you'll meet.  Been around ranges my whole life from the times with my father to profesionally.  I don't know why so many people are having the same experiences I have had.  They need to do something to get rid of the negative cloud hanging over the heads of MANY members and staff.

I also had a run in with the same guy on more than one occasion.  I was out there on a Sunday morning volunteering during a work party when he came up and did not like the fact that I had parked my motorcycle on a cement pad just off of the dirt parking lot.  He told me, "you've got exactly one minute to move that bike or I'll move it for you!"  Not sure why he had a problem but I figured it was just easier to move it.

On another occasion my dad(also a member) had agreed to meet in the club parking lot before heading out to the Lansing Gun Show.  My dad as usual was a few minutes early and was waiting in his car for me simply listening to his radio.  The same guy tapped on his window and ripped him a new one because he was on club property and had not walked into the clubhouse and signed in.  My dad explained that he was waiting for me and then we would be on our way.  Mr. Flattop told him that if he ever found him on club property again without first singing in, he'd have him kicked out of the club.

Sorry for the long rant, but I've watched this guy abuse far to many people.  I look forward to the day when I find his name in the obituaries.  As John Wayne said in one of his movies, "What I'll do on his grave won't pass for flowers."

Don't the anal old guys realize they are perhaps one of the greatest threats to the survival of our hobby? All they're doing is chasing away young shooters by taking the fun out of it. And yes, its possible to be safe AND have fun while shooting.

Without young shooters, there will be no one to take his place when hes too old to pull the trigger.

Anyway, WWCCA hosted a shooting weekend for the scout troop I'm a part of. Nice facilities, and the members I met were very helpful and pleasant. Fortunately, no one tried to scare any of my boys into never shooting again.

Ya know its probably one or two jerks there.  But they always seem to be there.  Like anything.  Meet a cop who is a jerk and they're all jerks in your eyes....normal human reaction.

It is unfortunate.  And I agree.  We are the future of the sport.  And my two kids are my future of the shooting sports.  Why be a crab?  If someone gives you attitude thats different.

Oh well.  I still go there once every month or two and sight in or do some informal shooting....just mind my Ps & Qs.  Its sooo darned close and convenient!
