I frequent the Walmart’s around Rochester a lot. Partly because of the relatively cheap ammo, but mostly because it is the only thing open when my G/F gets out of work. When I do actually find the ammo I am looking for the trip typically ends in me having to argue with the teller, going to the service desk, then walking back to the sports dept with a manager to get the 9mm without a pistol permit for my g/fs hi point. I am now used to feeling like a criminal at these places.
This brings me to last night. We went to the Brockport Walmart and I picked up some of the value pack 12ga, and some .223. As we were cashing out the casher sees the ammo and we start listing all of the firearms we have, and we get into a discussion about him wanting an AR-15. It made my night, and the Brockport Walmart will be the go-to location from now on even though it is the least convenient. (And I know buying "rifle ammo" does not cause the panic that the 9mm does, it was just nice to have a good experience) |

Quoted: They seem like they don't want to sell you ammo. I had a number of problems with the manager of sporting goods at the wal mart there. She told me that I wasn't over 21, my permit was fake, then she told me that I could only buy practice ammo cause my permit wasn't for self defense. The Wal-Mart in Geneseo would not sell my wife 9mm ammo once because, she did not have her amendments with her to prove she owned a 9mm. ![]() |
