| I need some recommendations for a new washing machine. What do you have and do you like it? Looking mostly at top loading machines. |

I have a Whirlpool, which IIRC, that is what Kenmore is. Works great. Whirlpool is the only manufacturer that makes "drawbridge" type door on the dryer, which for me, is a must. That's why, IIRC, Kenmore was easily identifiable as Whirlpool.

Stay far, far away from GE. I bought a Consumer Reports recommended model 3 years ago. 3 service calls since. Last one the motor died, replacement cost more than a new washer.
Got a front loader (LG) and a 5 year warranty. Home Depot seems like they have the best prices including warranty, delivery & setup & haul away. |

We have a Maytag Bravos. I believe it's 5 cubic feet. I usually don't get too excited about appliances, but this one seems like serious business. We've had it a little over a year. I had pieced our old one together too many times. When the transmission thing seized up I figured it was time to put it out to pasture.

Can I have your old one? They make great tannerite targets! We have the Maytag Bravos. It lasted 18 months before it broke down and it only has a 12 month warranty. The extended warranty we bought, did not cover the water pump going out. In fact the extended warranty we bought will only cover the transmission going out. Buyer beware when buying from HH Gregg (sp?). I didn't know they had different levels of extended warranty! The basic is basically worthless, the 'deluxe' covers everything. |

We did one of those. Don't find many ovens around, or I would do more. I don't discriminate against appliances. Ovens, dryers, washers, refrigerators, water heaters, microwaves, computers, hard drives, recliners.... they all work. Dryers, washers and ovens are the preferred appliance to be launched into a low orbit - I'll take them all and give them a proper send off Anyone have a car they don't want? |
If you do get a front load - the pedestals are great for ease of use and storage (bought mine online from Amazon I think). But you must use the HE rated low suds detergent or the stink will get you. Since we changed to HE all odors have gone away. And of couse I was instructed to to reduce the amount of the detergent I was adding.
