If there's any sun (or even lack of rain) this saturday the 24th I'll be going to Millers. I had a Red Star Arms trigger group installed in my AK yesterday and I'm wanting to try it out. Plus I still need to site in my AR. I will bring a tow rope if anyone else wants to brave the mud. Planning to be out there around 1300. Last week some CCW people had range time around 1500 so I'm planning for the same. As of right now the weather channel forcast friday 67 is the high 20% chance of rain. Saturday- Mostly SUNNY high-64 with 0% chance of rain. That will work for me. |

Gee, I coulda helped ya install that Todd....all you had to do was axe! I might be able to limp over if you guys twist my arm. I go in for surgery tuesday. I tore my miniscus last sunday shooting with AW4ever and my buddy. Been off work the whole week and everything. Im able to lipm around with my crutch though. I could come over and keep an eye on you guys |
Might be up the challange, need to bring out the "Fly Fart" for the machinist . Also need to attempt to chrono some reloads (62gr M855 with WC-844) so I can use up the box of bullets my sis picked up at Pats a couple week ago.Tried my "priveledges" at Troy last Friday night, damn range NAZI says I cannot set my Chrono out front of the table on the range,,,, he says range rules state that targets need to be placed no more than 5 foot in front of berm... SINCE WHEN IS MY CHRONO A TARGET????? . He looked and knew I what the chrono was, and ask if I was working a load up for the AR. He says I need to take it up with the board to get a ruling. |

Cool now if someone could bring an AR front site adjuster that would be most appreciated. I might go to the Dayton fun show before and pick up a site rail for my A2 hand carrier and scope the thing. I've currently have been using a shotgun scope on my Horton crossbow that I think would work well on the AR. If anyone is wanting to off load an AK drum (7.62) let me know before this afternoon. Otherwise I'll be making a quick stop at AIM for one. What is the exit # off I-75 for AIM. For the life of me I can't remember. |

Time for the Funshow "set-up" report------ HEY DINKY, walk across the street!! Report as of 1315hr: Not much movement over there, will be held in front via the visual on the sign. Fella spent a little bit putting a yellow Goodman sign over the trailer sign, he was kinda slow putting it on. Todd, Rapid Fire have no drums, this was Wed night when I stop on way home. I'll try to remember the sight tools if I can get out and make myself show up. Also, did you go to Montgomery Co to drop your CCW? I talked to Miami Co this morning, she is altering her lunch to work with applicants lunch time. I went to Wal-Mart Trotwood a little bit ago and got my pasport pics. |
| Hal, I dropped off CCW paperwork at Greene Co. on Wed. Was in and out in under 30 min. Was #361 in Greene co. Was up at Rapid Fire also on Wed to purchase a Red Star trigger group. Installation was free. Had a recoil buffer also installed. Enroute now to AIM to pick up a cheap red dot scope then will get the hardware for A2 installation from the fun show tomorrow. |
| Dropped CCW at Montgomery Co a little after 1700hr, I flew down Salem, and into the County garage next to I-75 on 2nd, went into the day care and got my ticket stamped (I know the director there and sis in-law there also), walked over to Sheriff dept. Was in and out in maybe 15 minute? |

Sorry I missed you guys. Did anyone go to the funshow? Was it any good? Ineed some 5.45x39 ammo. I have less than 500rounds aand thats not enoufg to break it in. ![]() How muddy was the field ay Millers? Was our "buddy" there? |
|
The field was not bad, reasonably dry. Did need a good run when you hit grass from driveway, the dip was full of water, and soggy. Needs grass cut though, maybe offer to drive tractor or whatever while we are there, or least a path from driveway out to shoot area, so can have a dry approach to the range.......... I counted the box of empties, Matthew helped sort them out----> approx 1180 Wolf .223 (maybe more hiding in the grass), 175 Q3131A, add the 7.62x39 that was fired, add 9mm, and whatever else was pistol/revolver, and the maybe 200 12ga hulls? I dont think I shot more than 50 round between the AR's and the 22-250, as I was looking mostly to get the loads chrono'd. Did miss leisure shoot, and anybody else who would have lliked to visit, Glimmerman took some pics of Killian "bumping" my 7.5" with bare muzzle for the fireball/flying brass, he need to link an album or something for us to see. |

Killian: I picked up your .223 stripper clips. I got 20 for $4.99. Paul: The electric was down in our plat so alarm didnt go off. Woke up at 11:30 and waited till about 12:45 for power to come back on. Thought maybe you decided to not come since it was nasty out. Drove to millers to be sure and waited for 20 mintes till 1:45 and assumed you werent going to show. Went to gunshow. I hope you didnt drive all that way. In any case we need to exchange #'s in case things like this come up. I guess we didnt get power till about 2. Anyhow they had a case of .223 HP wolf for $88. Lots of venders today and not too crowded. They opened up a section of the building in the frint thats usually closed off. Also bought 2 mag pouches filled with 3 used orlites each for $45 total. Hopefully they still work good. Oh yea,saw a handful of hot chicks there too |

Looks like you guys had fun! Sorry I couldn't be there for that one. Wife had to work. The only good part was that I took my daughter out groundhog hunting with me and we got 3 of the fat suckers in the afternoon sun. Took the last one at 400 or so yards, which is the longest I've ever shot one. Pretty nice day, all told. I'll be sure to get down the next time. |
Was hoping you would be there, had some questions for ya. Guess I'll ask now, what's a good price for a m1 "tanker" Garand? Saw a jungle carbine for $275 at the show, looked like it been refinished. Was real nice. |
$275 has to be one of those 70's ones. I don't know about quality on those receivers. The Century M1's (chinese?) from that same time aren't very loved. I can't believe you'd pass up a $275 "toy". It's not like M1 carbines are known for their great accuracy, so it couldn't be worth less than $275. |
I've seen the tanker jobbies for as little as $550, but last few times I've come across them they've been upwards into the $600-700 range. I don't know a ton about them, but I have seen quite a few around. As for the No5 Jungle Carbine, if it was an all original one, $275 is a good price. If it was parkerized on really nice wood, it's probably either a repro or a Navy Arms rebuild, which isn't worth near that, probably only $150-175 tops. People get the wrongheaded idea that JC's are cheap - they are NOT. The recent importation of those malaysian turds that SOG and WGA are selling has lowered their value, but early import Brit Jungle Carbines can still command $400-$500 if they're solid. Gotta be careful tho with them, there are lot of fakes - cut down No4's with flashhiders. Easy way to tell a real Jungle Carbine is by the NO5mk1 on the side of the receiver, and lightening cuts on the barrel and ass end of the receiver. If you're interested in a nice one, lemme know I come across them alot with my Enfield collector friends. |
I wouldn't mind having one. |
