Not that there were a lot of them going there. I think in 10 yrs I seen maybe 1 other one. They also banned rifles and shotguns at the pistol ranges also. Doubt that will stop the tards at Yellowstone from doing mag dumps at the pistol range with their AK's. |

I can see why WIDNR banned long arms from being used at handgun ranges, but why were .50 caliber long arms banned at rifle ranges? Not that I own one but if I did have a Mauser safari bolt gun in .505 Gibbs or a vintage Winchester 1886 in .50-110 Express, I'd be more than a little pissed if I could not shoot it at a WIDNR range that my tax dollars and hunting license fees help build and maintain. Gary Had an issue with a range Karen at Columbia on monday. They had a range volunteer there (in a neon yellow vest) and he was cool. I called the DNR about shooting a 50bmg there years ago and they said its fine. Monday popped off maybe 15 rounds to check the sight in. As I was taking the upper down for storage some old fuck came over and slammed a 3ringbinder down with typewritten pages that were maybe 40yrs old tapping his finger on the pages ranting. Nothing was listed on the DNR website, nothing on any sign there. Guy had NO volunteer vest on. Refused to produce any ID saying he was a volunteer just bitching. Sent off an email to the guy that runs the range program. He said yes the state passed a new rule banning them at DNR ranges and was sorry that they havent updated teh website and signs yet. Sent him an email again tonight asking if he can tell me the reason they banned them. Also asked that they get some of their volunteers under control or tell them they arent needed. If the guy in the vest would had said "sorry but new state rules dont allow 50bmg at these ranges anymore" it wouldnt had been an issue, but acting like an ass when I had no idea who he was is fucking retarded. |

I'm never bored, and I NEVER volunteer for anything. If you want my time & effort, you're paying me for it.  I did enough "volunteering" & "free shit" when my daughters were young and played sports. What time I have left will be spent on me and my wife of 53 years. |

 I’ve shown up with a Barrett at DNR ranges. Very few are safe for it, which is why I really only take it out west of the Mississippi. All the same, this is annoying. |

 LOL... I realized this fact when I read one of those "This day in History" things on the interwebs last June 25th, when It said the Battle of Little Big Horn occurred 149 years ago today. This was about 6 weeks after my 75th birthday.... so the guy in your GIF was me. Now that 150th anniversary of that battle is near, and I just turned 76, and that's more than half of 150... hmmm.... it happened 74 years before I was born, and I'm now 76.... shit, I'm really old...

Used my Weber grill for bait. 9:30pm my smaller GSD bark a couple times so I went out the back door onto the deck to have a look see..sure enough there's a young bear at the grill...I spooked him and he jumped off the deck but didn't run off he just started sniffing where I had take a piss off the deck earlier... I went back in to grab my airhorn came back out and then he went up a big oak next to the deck...then I saw something moving just off to my right and there she was big mama never saw her until she moved...she was ten feet away... I got on the air horn started yelling and they both moved off... Normally I grab the G20 when I go out the door but the one time I didn't...she didn't have a cub with her just the yearling...so I really had an angel looking out for my dumb ass... as she could have easily cut me off from the back door d I didn't want my dog out getting used to chasing bears...so I kept both dogs in the house... |

About ten years ago, a friend accidentally put a 105mm through someone’s living room. It was an impossible shot which involved two separate ricochets at 1+ mile distances each. That incident “left an impression.” It really sensitized me to range design and the need for a larger fudge factor when firing less common stuff. As it stands, my own BMG and larger stuff rarely comes out east of the Mississippi. I don’t like it, but I’d rather be frustrated and bored than buying someone a new living room if I’m lucky. |
