Looks like Beretta Road may be closed.

I was going to run out there today and survey the destruction, but got wrapped up in the weekend chores.  I may take a little trip out there sometime this week, maybe get some pics of the scene and see where abouts this all happened.

I've been out there before when someone sparked a blaze, was back in '06/'07 I think.  Didn't realize anything was out of sorts until I saw the fire trucks passing by.  Got a visit from the Forest Circus after they'd passed asking if I'd seen anything.  Didn't burn much, saw a small column of smoke just before the fire guys went whizzing by.

Haven't gone there yet to view what and where the fire happened.   From what I see on TV
the fire was way back in there where the road ends.

As I stated before, trying to restrict the shooting usage on Beretta Road is not a good idea.

1.  This area at least keeps shooters in one place.
2.  If closed/restricted, now shooters will just find new places to shoot, and garbage will be all over the Black Hills.
3.  The Forest Service and Law Enforcement just do not have and will never have enough man power
to enforce what goes on in the Black Hills.  Come on.
4.  The Forest Service/Game Fish and Parks needs to invest now in a Indoor/Outdoor Shooting Education Complex,
the first world class one of its kind.
5.   We as a Shooting Community have to help police that area, report unusal activity.  I got after a older gentleman last
fall, for doing unsafe thing, pulling right in front of me while shooting a the 100yd brume.

My God, we have an Indoor Ice Skating Rink costing us thousands of dollars.
There has to be a lot of unreported skating injuries that happen there.
We as a Shooting Community as a whole, have a better record then the Skating injuries that are happening.

The only problems I see with a shooting facility is then there is a range officer that may not like you drawing from your concealed holster, might not like cheap steel ammo or numerous other things that you can now do at Beretta.  I do agree there are a lot of slobs giving the responsible shooters a bad name.

That is unfortunate.  I was there in December visiting my grandparents.  It really bugs me that people leave so much junk out in the black hills.  Myself and my grandpa ended up taking back our trash/brass and quite a bit of stuff that was already there (cases, boxes, water bottles etc.).  I don't exactly recall, but there was some sort of big TV or audio system out there by a fallen tree–– such a beautiful area it blows my mind that people just leave trash like that after they shoot it.  Don't get me wrong, it's fun–– I've shot computers and laptops etc... but pick the shit up when you're done.
