what is that gorgeous pistol doing on the ground? my father would kick your butt!!!
Nice looking gun, what's the story? I had the Thrower of Flames do some work on it. FMD saw the pistol at Todd's before the work, I thought he might want to see the after. |

I like it. I used to LOVE painting guns. Wish I had more time to do it, and an FFL. I loved taking a junker and making it beautiful again. |

So... what was all done? What did it start out like? I was a Government model series 70 Colt with some crappy adj. rear sight and a staked front sight blade the size of Montana. When the rear sight was pulled off there was a flat spot in front and behind the dovetail where the sight was. When the original rear sight was put on someone used a file I would guess to flatten the top of the slide to make the adj. sight fit . I wanted to go to a fixed sight so Flame milled the length of the slide to fix that and cut a dovetail for the front sight.
The front sight is a STI, 10-8 NM rear sight A S&A Beavertail grip safety and flat mainspring housing/magwell-beveled to match the gun Nowlin sear and hammer Wilson extended thumb safety Alumagrips Refinished in "Tactical Tuff Guy" mat black so all the parts match |

Ask Todd about my front sight; if yours was Montana tall, mine might be Alaska tall. That looks really nice!
Well Todd, break the tie... Well, you have your old blade. I didn't measure it before I took it off, but the finished height on RF's front sight will be .4233" off the top of the slide. |
