[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What scope? (Page 1 of 2)

Now the niceties are over my first question.
I'll mainly be using the M4 .22 lr for rabbiting plus plinking, this will include lamping. So what are you guy's using, obviously needs to compliment the look of the rifle & mustn't be too expensive, although I may be looking for expensive later on in my AR ownership. I'm thinking Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5-5x20 Cheers. Andy. |

Bite the bullet and get an S&B Short Dot no. It's expensive but you won't be dissapointed and you wont be stuck with a scope you don't want and can't sell. Hmmm, is that the scope Mark was showing me, very nice. Unfortunately well out of my price range at the moment. Andy. |

Leupold Mk IV MR/T range? Yeah, I like the look of that, not the price though. Andy. Buy cheap buy twice. Very true. Has any body got this scope? Andy. |

I've got 3 S&Bs; two Short Dots and a 5-25x56 PMII. You can go off some people. Andy. |

When I first saw this bipod marketed, I thought about mounting it like that to help with lower centre of gravity. Might even try it on some sort of NV rail on the AW. |

It's not mounted on the top; it’s mounted on the left and right hand sides and comes as two separate legs. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h180/RN-Submariner/Picture051.jpg Nice scopes, shame about the mod. Andy. |

Andy. 4x ACOG ![]() That's got to be the ultimate scope for an AR15, what sort of money are we talking about & how easy are they to get hold of? Is it not a bit ott for bunny bashing at a max range of 70 yards. Andy. |

Zero it properly.....While lamping place the laser on the rabbits and bob is your uncle.... |

If it's the ultimate scope why are lots of the people in the know changing to S&B Short and Flash Dots. There are also quite a few changing to the small Nightforce scopes that you can use to cheat in CSR Competitions. ![]() See that's why I joined. In my neewbiness I meant the ACOG is the ultimate scope looks wise imo. I'm used to MTC scopes so all this high end glass is new to me. Andy. |
|
Go with the Short Dot. You will only ever buy that one scope. You may upgrade the rifle but you won't better the scope.
I also agree about the NF scopes. I nearly just bought one but couldn't get the reticle I wanted (FC-2) so had a rethink. The other alternative is the IOR 2 -12 x 32. Great glass & a great reticle (MP 8) The only downside is it doesn't have tactical turrets.. |

At rimfire ranges it does just fine... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e149/icarusy625/DSCF6153.jpg I'd love a Shortdot or two, but it's just not happening... I didn't know MTC did that scope. Andy. |

Get the S&B short dot and be done, its the best of the best and it would be rude not to ![]() This. I've owned about 6 or 7 GAYCOG's over the years. They are all sold now and I am well and truly a Schmidt convert, With the exchange rates, they're about the same price anyway (for the top end GAYCOG anyhow) and as they have dialable turrets, you'll never be stuck with fixed aiming marks as you will with a GAYCOG |

ACOG's are pure battle focused optics hardly GAY! ACOG's survive on standard issue infantry rifles, S&B's don't! If you want it for competition use then go for the S&B / IOR / NF. If you want to be able to throw it in the back of a landrover, or use it harshly on a farm, then go for an ACOG. |

Nah, got the L1A1 or L1A2 SUIT for that It's for the R22 / Rem 1100 / 9mm for action type events. |

Hmmm, this AR lark is an expensive way to shoot bunnies me thinks. I haven't specced the rifle yet & I'm feeling skint. Andy. That's the one problem with AR's...........you can add & change all the bits so easily you just don't stop spending.....
And once you get one, you want another & another......... |
