I was driving along at traffic speed on the beltway and had the pleasure of hitting what looked like a metal 4x4. I was pleasantly surprised my tire didn't blow then and there given the significant impact.

However, since then tire has been losing pressure so the car has been parked for a week until I had a chance to figure out. The soapy water trick revealed no obvious leaks on the tread so I took my phone and started taking pics of the back/inside of the tire.

Revealing this:

So who does the best job in the Houston area fixing wheels?

I've used SABS for polished aluminum custom corvette wheels before and they did a great job.

I hit a pothole on SB i35 and had a bigger bendthan that. I took it to a tire shop near the scene as I had a huge blister/bubble from it. The shop changed the wheel for me since the tool to unlock the Wheelock was missing. Then they beat the rim flat/round and it held air fine til I sold it six months later.

No affiliation but also check out Rocky Roads. I think they are somewhere on 290.

SABS fixed my dented alloy rims, they even fixed some curb rash at no extra charge. They do great work.

I've heard of RR but never been there. My neighbor has a town car fleet and he uses RR. They are off muesche road, almost to the outlet malls.

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen. I still don't know what I am going to do. But at least I am better informed!

Rocky Roads must be the place I used. My old man lives out there off Cypress Rosehill. He did a great job on mine, looks new. I bought a set of five including the one with a ding. I figured Id keep it as a full sized spare. Now its the best looking wheel, so Ill eventually swap it on the car.

Thought I should give a partial update on this. I picked on of the shops listed.

Was initially told it would be ready a couple days later, every time I have called I have gotten a different answer from the guy who answers the phone.

I wondered if it was an old school place that put whoever called at the end of their to-do list so I haven't called since last Friday. No calls from them either. I am waiting to see the final total and the quality of work before I give out the name.

I am thinking I need to go there tomorrow and tell them I want my wheels back (I took a second wheel that had road rash on it to be done as well). This is a mess altogether.
