A while ago, I bought a SMLE Mk4.

I wanted to strip the bolt to properly clean it. This requires a special tool.
There seems to be only one manufacturer of these tools, so I bought one from them.

The tool looks like this:



As you can see, not really much to it, apiece of tube with part of the end cut away leaving a couple of lugs.

So I tried to use this wonderful tool ... seems to be made of mild steel tube, because the without applying a huge amount of pressure, the lugs just bent.

Seems that this is a recognized problem with this tool (from this source).
What is really needed is the tool made from much stronger material, and possibly heat-treated to make the lugs stronger. I would really expect them to break off before bending.

Since his vendor seems to be the only game in town, I don't see there being any change in the way these tools get made.

So, I am looking for a toolmaker that can make up a tool like this for me, one which I can apply enough pressure to to disassemble my bolt without the tool breaking.

Anyone know anyone who might be able to do this job?
