Shooting propane tanks and trying to get them to blow is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen. I have personally watched as the small 1 pound propane bottles flew for about 100 yards after being blown up. The flame is impressive but the risks associated with it are way to high. I watched a guy in Lapeer set out a tank to shoot with a 50 BMG incindiary round. I knew what he was trying to do and I was trying like hell to get my stuff loaded so I could leave before he shot it. Unfortunately he had a big crew of cheerleaders egging him on so I knew anything I said wouldn't be taken as common sense. I couldn't get gone quick enough and he settled in for the shot. I took cover as best I could. When he hit the 20 pound tank, a massive fireball enveloped the the entire area around the tank. The heat was intense at near 60 yards away. Instead of the cheerleaders realizing they were lucky nobody got killed, they started cheering like fanatic football fans. I just finished loading my gear and shook my head that Darwin had somehow missed this little event. Stupid shit like this is going to get somebody killed some day. |
